Oh…I'm glad we didn't get a Kesha collab then

I like him, I didn't know he had a new single, let me go listen

he shouldn't have overdone that 'pissing off religious people' schtick and released something like Old Town Road or Industry Baby instead

i hope he continues to create, although he does need better material. Light Again is ok (and definitely a step up from J Christ)

J Christ killed his chances to have another song with commercial success, the gimmicks worked once but people got tired of the same

thing all over again.

It's not really a surprise. As someone who loves his music, I learnt about this the day before its release. He announced it late, there was no hype and I think he has alienated a lot of people who are not checking for him anymore. The song is nothing special also and I've read that he'll already be releasing a new song next week. I don't understand his label's startegy but it sounds stupid. He should try to rebrand himself in my humble opinion.

Oh, and with 12 million playlisting. Label has lost faith.

the hard truth is he waited way too long to launch another era. he should've been doing it 12-24 months before he actually did. half the 12/13 year old white boys who found his music and extravagant videos entertaining in 2019-2021 are now young MAGATs :rip:

j christ was reductive and the new single isn't bad but it's just there. if he wants a comeback he needs better material and to build goodwill again. i see some parallels with miley. obviously bangerz was a huge era for her but some of the audience saw her antics in 2013-14 as inauthentic and she struggled a bit (sans malibu) until plastic hearts, which was a great album that acted as a reset moment where first pop culture stans and then the GP took her seriously again. there is a chance of coming back from this but it'll be hard and take a lot of work.

I remember when people said he was raised on the internet so he knows how to get people talking and interested.

He already has an account

Was there any doubt? He can't rap, he can't sing, can't dance, too much dependency on hits and shock to ever have a lasting career.

I'm conflicted as I want to see LGBT+ artists succeed, yet I find Lil Nas to be quite abrasive. :dancehall3:

If he were a pop girl, this thread would have 20 pages of lashings by now though. :coffee2:

I like him as a person…mainly b/c I think it's commendable that he was able to break the cycle of the industry.

Like… he was the start of artists going viral via TikTok and finding REAL success…he deserves his flowers for that.  :clap3:

But yeah….he should've been hard at work on his artistry over the years.   I agree.  He's JUST BARELY good at any of the things you listed.  No shade AT ALL.

He should've known it was coming.  And worked his ass off to make up for the talent gap.

He still could recover a bit…but he's definitely turned a corner now.  He reached his peak (for now at least).

Everyone flops eventually , he lasted longer than anyone expected

He is not talented. Memes can only take you do far I fear.

Was this playlisted? I don't even see it on New Mysic Friday?

I don't rule out that he'll have another hit tbh. Maybe not a #1 but a Meghan Trainor Made You Look type. Just has to keep releasing.

I'm sad. We have no gay Black pop boys. He needs to simply rebrand.
