No one wants him to be John Mayer 2.0 but he won't accept the clear feedback he's getting.  You can be a good musician, you can be a bad musician, but the worst thing you can be is a musician people are totally indifferent to either way. He has reached the latter point unfortunately.

he seems very happy with his career which means he ain't ever going back to trying to be a popstar and is gonna continue down this path regardless. Which isn't really shocking because John Mayer has been his mentor since the beginning of his career
