Gladiator filmmakers accused of cutting scenes of Palestinian actress

Social media users have criticised the makers of the new Gladiator II film for cutting out all scenes of Egyptian-Palestinian actress May Calamawy, who was expected to have a major role in the blockbuster film.

Reactions to the news on Thursday have spurred widespread debate on social media about why Calamawy was cut out of the film. Many believe it was due to her Palestinian heritage and public support for Gaza, while others say it was to shorten the two-and-a-half-hour film.

this is dumb, the movie is bloated as hell as it is and she was hired and got her cheque anyway.

I mean with all the stuff going on, this is really not a big deal

She was paid, she showed up, if the scenes are relevant or not that's up to post production.

I really can't think of someone being "omg a Palestinian lets cut her out" after they paid her

Why even hire her then?

The energy should be put towards a real issue.

People get cut out of movies all the time. They always film way more than they need to so they have options during the editing process. Some movies have tons of reshoots and change direction. Sometimes people have their parts drastically cut back. Actors from Force Awakens and Justice League complained but both actors' performances were somewhat wooden, so it makes sense that they were cut down.

The erasure of Palestinians in general from all aspects of society is scary. There is a consorted effort to just wipe out any presence of them completely…I mean just look at Netflix removing like 30+ movies that mention the word Palestine…it's scary AF

Love how this gets invalidated and tossed aside in a millisecond while racist brainrot like "Bella Hadid is in sneaker ads while happening to be Palestinian and that's offensive!!1!!" is seriously entertained. :dies:

Scream 7 is currently in shambles because the main character spoke up in support of Palestine--the fired her.

Its definitely believable.

You being THIS naive and gullible by thinking this has nothing to do with her being Palestinian is actually the major problem here.. You clearly don't understand and you are clearly undermining the huge "machinery" that Isreal's propaganda is. Do better.

Actors have scenes cut down all the time, it's normal in moviemaking. Get over it

No, you're completely in the wrong

This is perfectly normal in post production, they do it to the much bigger stars

The objective of a movie is the storyline and making profit not having X race covered on screen

Also as I mentioned if they wanted to discriminate her they could've just avoid hiring her

"Do You Support Palestine?" is NOT an interview question nor is it on any job application.

The situation is from "where she's from" not "who she supports"

In the job application the most basic information is your country of origin

And she still got hired

I'm not saying Hollywood isn't run by Zionists, but in this specific case there is no proof of anything posted in the OP

Is just assumptions from chronologically online people
