That doesn't mean we should stop calling them racist just because it's an insult or have a negative connotation, it should. Just like we shouldn't stop calling Zionists… Zionists, it's "insulting" because… it is a bad thing. The word being "overused" (which… I frankly find untrue) has no relevance. Absolutely. Part of what lead to this ban though (which is insignificant in the grand scheme of things) is the fact that it's overused as it gets thrown out waaaay too easily. Even Gaga was called one bc she was hanging out with someone who did sth or whatever, I'm not sure. Even a vague statement like "I pray for the inoccent ppl from both sides" IS labeled as zionism. You can't compare situations like that with what actual zionism is. Edited November 16 by dumbsparce

smartalek22 Posted November 16 Posted November 16 But if anybody ever attempts to have other slurs (I'm not interested in debating what are slurs and what aren't here, it's beside the point) banned it would be violation of freedom of speech

You can't compare situations like that with what actual zionism is. Except a perceived overuse of a word doesn't mean we should… stop using it, especially when so many people… are using Zionist language. If they aren't Zionists, they should stop talking like one. This would be a slightly different conversation but I always side-eye people who double down or get defensive if they get called out for using prejudiced language by saying they aren't those things. If you aren't racist/Zionist/etc, you just would apologize and move forward, because that is what a non-racist person would do. Also that "pray for both sides" shtick if often used as a hollow dog whistle, when a lot of people who say that also fail to actually comment on WHY there is a war in the first place. 1
