I watched Wicked in London, and I have to admit that Ariana's version of Popular is somewhat disappointing. It doesn't even sound like her? Also the audio quality is bad in that clip? I don't know, hard to judge.

She sounds fine? I'm not sure why certain corners of the internet are so bent on trying to find something to drag her about with this film, everything we've seen so far points to her really being a good fit for this role. 
 

Slightly OT, but when I read the title of this thread my mind went to this being about one of her live performances and someone pointed out her OTT jaw movements.  It's like the one thing you can criticize her about and it drives me nuts. Halsey and Camila do the same thing; I'm not sure when it started, but it needs to be stopped.

She sounds fine. It's a movie musical - not a live show on broadway. Even then Ariana is a fantastic vocalist. She's giving less head voice than normal to be sure but she sounds amazing. I can't wait for the rest of the song to be released.

Well, there's no recordings of her at her prime. Just the duet with Mariah, so, it's kind of difficult to have an opinion. But it sounded good for a woman of her age and it showed a classical training.
