SoldierofLove Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It's been less than 24 hours since Harris conceded when Longoria calls me, and it's obvious that she is still processing the loss. "I would like to think our fight continues," she says. But she can't pretend she knows what's coming next. The country "is a scary place," she continues. "If he keeps his promises, it's going to be a scary place." For years now, Longoria has spent most of her time outside of Hollywood. She and her husband José Bastón, with their son Santiago, 6, are split between Spain and Mexico. Work takes them from Europe to South America and back. The movie and television business is in flux, but the globalization of it at least suits her. Longoria doesn't tend to shoot in Los Angeles, and she doesn't miss it. "I had my whole adult life here," she says, gesturing around her. "But even before [the pandemic], it was changing. The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it's the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to sh*t on California—it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now." "I'm privileged," she adds later. "I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them." https://www.marieclaire.com/culture/eva-longoria-nov-2024-cover/ Great interview. Don't give the US any more of your coins, Queen! 4
LegaMyth Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I'm tired of seeing "privileged" everywhere. There are millions of people who work their a**es off and create plans to leave US. You don't have to be rich to do so. Yes, having less money will make it more challenging, but it is not impossible. 2
Mr.X Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Americans moving to South Europe to live and escape USA taxes whilst empoverishing local communities in Spain and Portugal, but then moan about their experience in the US whilst literally forcing the same shite in south europe, is revolting. She could **** off back to USA and leave us alone. **** 1

I agree with you. It's not easy but it can be done. The hardest part is learning the language. My family also immigrated and they were lower middle class. I think it is also easier in Europe than from America to Europe but it is doable. Here in Germany they are looking for skilled workers especially in jobs like nursing and elderly care. You just have to learn the language.

I agree, it´s really unfortunate and adds to our collective anxiety how you´re supposed to feel guilty for things that are ultimately your own achievements. Yes, you should feel for those in different situations and not be so "in your face" about your wealth and opportunities, but she´s being very thoughtful and empathic about it and happens to update on her own situation that she has every right to take advantage of. The drastic imbalance is absolutely effed up, but people who´ve worked hard to earn their peace and security should be able to enjoy it without being senselessly guilt tripped and shamed.
