Can someone explain this to me about Ariana Grande?

I know its ****** to comment on a woman's body and I'm not in the habit of doing so, but why does she looks so incredibly unhealthy?

The way she's been styled throughout the Wicked press tour just showcases how dangerously thin she is, every outfit shows off that she's literally just skin and bones.

What happened?

Years of being in the public eye and constantly observed for your looks probably lead to an eating disorder.

I dont think shes concerningly slim as of now though.

If you know it's messed up to comment on a woman's body why are you making a thread doing exactly that? Her health is not our business, tbh. She already commented on how toxic and weird it is that anonymous users on the internet feel so empowered to diagnosis her with severe illnesses without knowing her in the slightest. It's parasocial asf and yes, very weird and toxic. Y'all aren't genuinely concerned at all so stop framing it that way.

+ she already addressed this a year or two ago, she did have an ED back in the day but it's really not anyone's business!

I also think there's an element of people sticking their head in the sand when they say you can't do that. Ariana ain't checking atrl.

She definitely lost a little weight, but the reasons as to why are none of our business.

I'd say, that bleached hair and eyebrows makes her also look paler. We're used to seeing her with a tan and dark hair.

It is funny how in denial her stans are trying to pass her as healthy when she is clearly everything but.

And don't come with the not talking about other's people bodies when there is a difference between telling someone with a couple pounds on that they are a whale and having a discussion about someone clearly looking unwell and how that can translate negatively to the public that follow her or is indirectly exposed to her influence due to her participation in mass media.

We have no control over what Ariana does as we are just anonymous people on the internet, so there is no need to discuss it. We aren't her family, friends or her doctors. We do not know this woman personally. What is the outcome of engaging in this discussion?

You're right, Ariana ain't checking ATRL but regular people who may be struggling with ED's could be and the discourse around Ariana's appearance calling her sickly, skin & bones, etc. is harmful to those suffering from ED's and perpetuates a negative stigma around a disorder which already has enough stigma surrounding it as it is. ED's are the deadliest of mental illnesses and is a serious medical condition. Anybody who suffers from an ED would tell you that comments about their body are not helpful and make the disordered behaviors worse.  It's not appropriate to use ED's as a way to get some cheap drags against a pop star for silly stan wars.

This is such a garbage argument. So shaming Ariana for allegedly having an ED because she's a public figure and a "negative influence" is helpful? To who? Not her or those actually suffering with ED's.  You don't know how eating disorders work. ED's are mental illnesses stemming from trauma and often severe OCD behaviors. Boiling it down to mass media and influence is incredibly misguided and inaccurate. Y'all don't care about her health, y'all are just being nasty so own it and stop framing it as concern because it's not. Empathy is needed.

She lost weight for the role, it's simply about having the right look for it... and hollywood being strict about body size, camera angles, etc. She looks great tho, at any size.

i'm worried for her because she looks very unhealthy. it's not normal for a ribcage to be jutting out like that.

also please spare me the fake outrage 'don't comment on women's bodies'. there's difference in someone commenting maliciosly with bad intent and people commenting because of genuine concern.

Why is it that only famous women ever get scrutinised for being skinny? Famous men who are skinny never really get picked apart for it

Also it's worth remembering that when someone is already naturally petite a relatively small amount of weight loss can look pretty drastic on them.

That is not entirely true.

When Liam Payne lost weight, several threads were being made here about him looking "different".

Same with Zac Efron's drastic face change, the whole world commented on it.

Any public figure who drastically changes is going to raise questions, men or women.

It's literally a HUMAN reaction, to see someone you look up to look very different and react to it, whether you makes comments on it, it doesn't change that you see it and think it.

The discourse around Liam and Zac was largely around their plastic surgery, not weight loss. I'm not saying it's not a human reaction to notice a change in appearance, I just think it's an interesting observation that it's almost exclusively women who are described as things like "dangerously thin". It's also kind of interesting that if you were to call a public figure "dangerously fat" that would likely get you cancelled or pillaried in the eyes of many

I agree with the skinny and fat hypocrisy for sure.

Not so much about the men and women discourse. Let's say a male celebrity known for his physique gets crazy skinny, it's not going under the radar.

You can't help someone with an ED by freaking out about it on social media. It's like addiction, they can only get better if they want to and put the work in. Not saying I agree or disagree about her looking unhealthy I just think if you believe that then it's a good thing to know. In fact this sort of thing only draws more attention to it which can be harmful to others with EDs.

I'm sure Ariana has friends and family that care about her and will help her if she ever needs help. Gossiping about it on ATRL doesn't really help anyone.

this... to be honest.

Even with this pale look that she's going for when I see pictures of her, my initial thoughts are "I hope my girl is ok" and it shouldn't be that way.
