Every time my family brought up gay people or issues  I just had to sit there knowing I was one

oh man  so some of you have kinda gotten a glimpse of my personality over the course of the past 5 years I've been an official ATRLer and lemme tell ya… this personality can make for some insane interactions irl

 

idk if I can single out just one conversation as the most awkward but I was extremely social awkward especially as a kid and one example is that I came out as bi to my mom and my older sister (and her now husband) on one day and then came out to the rest of my family at the dinner table a few nights later and I did it in the most 13 year old Joe way possible  I was having a panic cause my mom was calling me over for dinner and I had an assignment for english that wasn't printing and so I rush over to the dinner table and someone says something like "you look stressed" and I was like "well I AM STRESSED cause the printer isn't working and my friends are mad at me and i'm sweaty and i'm gay and i'm sad and i'm gonna fail this class and all of you are mad at me and everyone hates me and…" and my dad's like "wait what you're gay?" and i'm like "yeah well technically i'm bi but yeah I guess this is how y'all other than mom and Charlotte are finding out. surprise…?" and everyone's just chill and kinda chuckling and being nice and teasing me lightly but my mom is just GLARING at me across the table  I had come out to her before anyone else (other than Charlotte because I wanted HER opinion on what to tell my mom) because she was the most high stakes person to come out to cause she was still a bit… traditional and religious at the time lol. obviously this was almost a decade and a half ago so sh*t is way different and since then both of my older brothers have also come out (and my mom was a lot meaner to both of them unfortunately… but she's more accepting almost a decade later now than she was when my oldest brother had come out)

 

I'm trying to think of more examples, I know i have some lol

first time i took an edible as a teen I had a panic attack went to the ER and started hitting on a male nurse there

My new colleges were standing in a circle, and one of them were talking about her new clothes. "Oh, like hippie style!" I exclaimed and everyone went silent and stared awkwardly with no answer I died a little inside, I have no idea why I even said that
