someone's gotta whack the most insufferable fanbase in existence every now and then.

I feel like there are not actually OGH but people that don't like Monsters.  And select groups of monsters go after so many other artists so it makes sense why some other members of fanbases might return the favor.

And how many years did it take your fave to apologise for this or are we still waiting? :coffee:

I like Rihanna and I'm not even trying to drag her, but people constantly bringing up Gaga in relation to RK over a decade later is just hypocritical because all the other artists (of which there are many) who worked with him and showed him love over the years just get a free pass. Gaga is the only one who actually did apologise and do something tangible to atone for her mistake.

This is the main reason for the existence of OGHs. They are insufferable. They throw the stone and hide their hand. Then they play the victim, like the OP.

Gaga has always been provocative, in your face, and makes an undeniable impact on pop culture and the music landscape whether you like her or you don't. Fans of other artists can't deal with that fact and/or support artists who repeatedly repackage and recycle the same material, staying in the safe lane or following trends to be inoffensive with varying success. It's somewhat the impact the streaming era where it's more valuable to be played 10 times than to be purchased and revered so much you have fans lining up to see you—instead artists that are "popular" nowadays are  palatable to the most people and just so happen to be autoplayed and/or not skipped. Gaga has always taken risks with her music—and she oftentimes doesn't give people exactly what they want. She subverts expectations and the definition of what a pop artist today is constantly, and it makes people uncomfortable and makes her an easy target because she's not conventionally beautiful and like so many others today who are making easy listening elevator music with soft vocals with predictable but accessible melodies. Gaga isn't a model but sadly today's industry and ATRL users in general clearly value conventional beauty, conventional pop music, and conventional femininity and hold these things to a standard that Gaga doesn't match. ATRL also isn't a fan of women in general who are older—there is no room for an artist to be loved by most users on this website and certainly not forever. There is always someone younger, prettier, and seemingly more talented and as soon as someone is idolized they can be hated the next news cycle with any perceived error or flaw. Gaga is just a rockstar and she clearly doesn't give a f*ck though and I love her for it.

Those who are camped out in the Disease streaming thread are serving mental illness 101… like, truly get a life…

I'm a psychiatrist and there is nothing in the DSM-V to explain what is seen in that thread :suburban:

I don't actually hate Gaga at all — I've always enjoyed her output (to varying degrees) and finally even saw her live on the Chromatica tour.

"Disease" is a mediocre single and a flaccid return to her roots. It just so happened that Liddos have been very very annoying about stats, and the streaming thread turned into a troll fest with every other fan base uniting and cracking jokes at the Liddos' expense.

In reality, I do not spend more than 10 minutes checking that thread, cackling at the conversation, and posting a shitty excel graph I made to track the streaming activity (which is what the thread is for, anyway). Honestly it couldn't have been timed more perfectly, with the election going horribly for us, at least we had a reason to (die with a) smile :toofunny2:

I would love for Gaga to deliver an earth-shattering bop as the second single and smash on the charts. But if "Disease" is the best she has to offer, I'm worried.

OT: All "obsessed X hater" types are pointless, tbh. Who has the time & energy?

The "liddos are annoying" is such a LAME cop-out as if every stan base doesn't have bad apples and that behaviour is exclusive to liddos only :rip: like wdym you literally participate in that same vicious cycle of "you drag my fave, I drag yours", you ain't any better lol.

Anyways, it is mostly an ATRL thing simply because monsters continue to be one of the biggest bases here and it's apparently "fun" for a lot of people to consistently antagonize them with ridiculous takes downplaying every single achievement of hers, which is pretty...embarrassing, for a lack of better word. Then there's also the additional aspect of stans of some artists who have deliberately slowed down or completely fallen out of GP favour for years/decades and don't have much to look forward to while she's constantly doing something interesting, so when she slips up it becomes a fresh source of entertainment for their dry stan lives. On top of that, she was supposed to be "done" and "finished" post ARTPOP but instead managed to successfully rebound and expand her artistry with different genres and mediums, thereby establishing herself as a multi-talented figure while simultaneously accruing hits and accolades and that's also understandably frustrating for some.

IRL, Gaga is a generational talent who is very much beloved by millions and that will never, ever change, no matter the ups and downs she faces in her long and fascinating showbiz career. The amount of people who respect and appreciate her as an artist and as an individual will always outnumber those who don't.

No- it's genuinely entertaining. It's brought so many kiis and cackles. :deadbanana4:

I just can't imagine finding joy from blindly worshipping & idolising a pop star? To me that's the pointless part.

Little Monsters have to let loose a bit. Y'all cannot always be this serious. :celestial2:
