He took about 1.5-2 years off, but let's not exaggerate. The Wonder era in 2020 had a solid rollout (and flopped), the 2 droplets he released after were also decently promoted and pushed and he just did the VMA's and the EMA's this year. He's promoting less than his peers and less than most mainstream acts, but he's not a hermit

2 public appearances months apart is not good promotion (3 counting rock in rio but that wasn't specifically for the album). He basically is a hermit because outside of the small shows he's been doing and one magazine cover he hasn't left the house. This is his first in person interview. But if he wants to be a hippie folk singer then that's his prerogative

That's what i said on the other thread... Shawn never queerbaited and if he actually says something about his sexuality we all know it's true. Let's be real: everyone has been calling him gay for years now and when he seems closer to actually lives his "truth" people are screaming: "pRoMo!!1!!" like

 

I'm not even a fan but let this guy in peace. This whole situation is already hard for anyone, imagine being a famous singer with the whole world trying to force you out of the closet... i can't even imagine the pressure, especially when your brand was build as a dream heartthrob for teenage girls.

It's funny, if he had came out right before he took 4 years off, everyone would be used to it by now. It'd be over and done with. Shawn and everyone wouldn't have to be focused on this issue yet again for this album cycle, everyone could be focusing on the music and more interesting things. It's so exhausing to still be on this tired subject!

 

But of course if he isn't gay/bi, I feel badly about what I just wrote.
