Musicmajor Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I am not surprised unfortunately. The album is very boring (as touching as it is), it has minimal replay value. Also no hits, ect ect.. 1
Everyperfectsummer Posted November 13 Posted November 13 So most people defending her from certain reviews were lying
Anthinos Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I'm not surprised. I found the album boring and haven't streamed it since. It's not a bad album but it's too ballad-heavy for me.
bad guy Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Read the title as "Harlequinn drops 177 spots" and was shocked that Gaga was still charting but instead I discovered that Halsey actually outcharted Harlequinn and has the bigger album overall. Thank you OP for this informative information. 3 1 1
Great Username Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Talent losing omg, music is so over It will have a cult following though
AshleyLovescats887 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 (edited) Halsey has stated so many times about how she does not care about the charts, she has 5 songs that have a billion streams (and 1 has 3 billion, which is extremely rare). This project doesn't really have a TikTok hit and it never wanted to have one, Halsey clearly had her own vision that wasn't as simplified as the current hits on the charts. (Plus i would blame the label for not promoting the project - the Apple Music interview is still not out, what is happening?) It's just masterpieces like TGI or 'If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power' are often undermined as they do not listen to the GP and take risks. Anyway stream 'The Great Impersonator' Edited November 13 by AshleyLovescats887 1
Broadcastthatboom13 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 It's not a very commercial/broad appeal album
UnusualBoy Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I mean, if you look at its streams, you would know this isn't shocking. Sucks because it's actually a good album. 1
perfectillusion204 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I'm obsessed with the album but it's just so depressing. So I probably am not listening to it as much as other albums this year. As important and tragically beautiful as it is, it really gets you in a down mood. 2
minajatropolis Posted November 13 Posted November 13 its a pretty heartbreaking album, so steaming doesn't suprise me. i'm a huge empath and found myself feeling sad the first two weeks omg. it's still a beautiful body of work that archives where she's at in life right now. 1
Dula Peep Posted November 13 Posted November 13 haven't listened to it yet, forgot it was out tbh.... are there any good songs on it?
NewStanner Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I'm not gonna lie, I feel quite conflicted, because I really didn't enjoy this album sonically (besides Panic Attack, Ego, Darwinism, Lonely is the Muse and the title track), but on the other hand, she clearly put her soul and personal struggles into it... what has been happening to Halsey in these recent years is horrifying and I definitely appreciate the content of the music at the very least. I think there's nothing wrong with criticising the sound of the project itself, however, what is not okay are comments made by critics like Fantano with nasty, misogynistic undertones like "she has a main character syndrome" - as if making an album about womanhood, mortality, being a mother, while having to deal with all the awful **** happening to you (like cancer) makes it suddenly too egoistic So I can totally see why The Great Impersonator would perform like this - some people don't like it musically, others feel like it's too depressing to have a replayability value. Also, obviously, Halsey is past her commercial peak, but she has built a decent fanbase at least - proved by the album's solid debut, and I'm really happy for her (btw I really liked IICHL,IWP, that was such an amazing record). Overall, even though the album is clearly not my cup of tea, I wish Halsey the best and it's a shame that it got such a rough drop. 1
Scandalous Posted November 13 Posted November 13 not surprising, at least she got a strong debut week. it's a good album but it's such a heavy listen other than a few songs so it doesn't lend itself to much replay value for streams, and of course there aren't any hits
KillingYourCareer Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Shame, the album is actually great. Arts not the charts.

Starkboy Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I still have no idea where these 1st week pure sales came from since she barely has a fan base nowadays
Minto Posted November 13 Posted November 13 arts not the charts, she delivered multiple classics with this album.
