US: 'Short n' Sweet' reaches 2M units, becomes 2nd multi-million selling 2024 album

2m units in the US in 2024 is like 4m back in 2014

You have to have a smash album to get there

I don't think the other albums not getting there are underperforming

The streaming formula needs to be changed.

But not surprised to see her outselling Billie in the end :clap3:

Billie had a good year but her album just couldn't keep up with all the smash hits coming off SnS. :coffee2:

Is it that difficult nowadays to get a multi-platinum album? :rip:

Is streaming making it harder because what do you mean second in a whole year???

Technically no  the units are more based around longevity so they are spread out over the course of several years. Most albums do like 1.5 to 850k per year if they can maintain spots in the top 50

albums in the top 50 do like 15k-30k on average excluding the top ten which can go higher

it just takes a while :thing:

by December I'm sure we will have more 2x plat 2024 albums tho even if it's only 2  :thing:

TTPD selling 6 million+ in just 6 months (anthology yet to come), people still call it a flop because it doesn't have a mega smash.

Billie's whole album came out only a month after Espresso…

Anyway congrats Sabrina

So it's a month older than Billie's. Got it.

I think we might have our Grammy 2025 AOTY!

People seem to be counting Sabrina out of the AOTY category but I honestly feel that she owned 2024. Two global smash hits and a couple more mini-smashes to her name. Not everybody has that.

I hadn't really paid her much attention before Espresso but I knew when I listened to SnS when it came out that it was easily one of the best pure pop albums in recent times. She achieved something with this album that almost everyone else can't do nowadays: have a true hit album with successful singles on both sides of the album release date. She gave the world the kind of true pop era that it's been missing for a long time.

I still think HMHAS will unfortunately go on to take it but let's be honest, Billie's 2024 doesn't put a dent in Sabrina's. I don't think it's a better album either. As good as CC (another worthy winner on paper) was, it came and went. Brat was a unique moment but lacked SnS's ability to actually translate hype across into commercial success. Sabrina gave us a sustained period of commercial dominance and truly good pop music filled with personality. I hope she wins.

I've always hated the streaming era.

No matter how they spin it theres no way more money is made through streaming than physical/digital sales

They BOTH had an amazing year.

Both albums will definitely end up above 4M units
