Why are so many people hoping for him to flop? Like what did he do to you that after getting a record-breaking hit, you want to relish in calling him a one-hit wonder?

 

This site is so weird. Everyone seems to respect and admire and RELY ON hits for any sort of point, yet here we have someone with a hit bigger than anyone else and it's all negativity and bitterness. Is it jealousy? Is it really because he said "he just can't win"? He very much seems to poke fun at that idea in the caption linked to in the OP. So anyone thinking he's entirely serious with that lyric, or doesn't understand the irony of saying it right now is very much projecting and/or forming their opinion on selective information.

 

People here really seem to feel better when they can demean someone's success, it seems.

He deserves his credit. He made the song, after all.

 

However, it's very hard to say that Beyoncé has no part in his success. He released *18* other singles that NEVER charted on the Hot 100 but 14 days after he appeared TWICE on COWBOY CARTER, his new single DEBUTS at #36. This cannot just be a coincidence. TikTok hits don't usually happen like that for unknown artists in just ONE week. To have a Top 40 hit out of the gate shows some level of baseline interest, for whatever reason and in this case it seems like the light Beyoncé shone on him did its job.

People are just salty because he blocked a lot of our faves from going #1, like Sabrina and Gaga. It happens with everyone who stays at the top for this long. Remember the backlash Taylor got when she blocked Billie from going #1 on the album chart?

- live, Acapella, voicenote, and telephone booth versions of songs 

- acoustic albums.

As much as this song annoys me now and I'm ready for a new #1, I'd like to remind people hating him incessantly for no reason that he is the only black male country artist to ever hit #1 (correct me if I'm wrong) and his #1 is historically significant. Like leave him alone, it's not his fault the songs below him aren't matching up on the charts.
