ATRL wants him to be Shawn Timberlake or Shawn Bieber when he clearly wants to be Shawn Mayer

I was so right when I said this

He doesn't have it in him. You just know he bores you to sleep when in bed.

i like the genre and it could be a good shift for him, the problem is that Shawn just isn't an interesting enough songwriter to make it work

Because of the popularity of Stick Season, A Bar Song, Austin, Too Sweet, Beautiful Things, Scared to Start, certain Gracie Abrams songs, etc.

Folk rock has not been on trend in 2024 and this album started being written over the span of 2 years

none of these songs are folk rock and only one of these songs is folk and that's stick seasons. A bar song is country, too sweet is soul, and beautiful things is pop rock. And I have no clue what Austin is

Writing happens first. Production happens later so the team working on this album was definitely influenced by the current landscape of pop.

Most of the songs I mentioned are pop with a Stomp & Holler influence. Just like Why Why Why. I doubt Shawn will go full on folk-rock.
He will stay in that folk-pop/stomp n holler trend that's been popular.

Of the released singles only why why why is stomp & Holler and nobody knows is straight folk rock
