Saint James Posted November 11 Posted November 11 ok but who is taking and sharing pics of a 12 year old. that's not fair on her. 2
Triton Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Miss Blue getting ready to take over as the new supreme. Absolutely stunning. She's going to nail her look for the upcoming Mufasa premiere. Miss Knowles, your days are numbered! (Also love that she didn't feel the need to walk the red carpet, not her event yet still totally appropriate for it) 1

I think it's important to frame discussion of her age by noting that it is a common, studied problem where Black girls are often considered to be older than their age by others and that this can and does lead to any number of unfair or harmful situations including being treated in a way that is not appropriate for their age, having less sympathy for things they are dealing with, being held to different standards, etc. etc. There is a (rather short) article on it here if you are interested in learning more. It's also worth noting that the same "aging-up" thing happened to Beyoncé too, who debuted in the industry at 16 with many not believing that she was that age, and rumours of her having lied about her age existing still to this day. I agree I actually thought beyonce was like 28-29 in Bootylicious and she was a teen
swissman Posted November 11 Posted November 11 (edited) 45 minutes ago, Archetype said: This is a very good analysis, but also worth noting that pre-teens and younger teenagers in general always want to look older because they want to be taken seriously and not judged based on their age. I think social media has helped make it even easier to find good references and pull off more mature looks. @OP She looks absolutely stunning True, but if this is something common to pre-teens and teenagers, the "adultification" (or the perception of a girl being older than she is) is still happening more to Black girls than white ones (at least according to the 325 adults in the study but this has been discussed many times prior, it's not something new) which is why I brought it up here, as well as the fact that since Blue was a toddler she's received [racist] ridiculing and unfair critique. Even in 2022, when Blue was 11 and dancing with Beyoncé on tour, the level of criticism she received was quite unfair given and I'm sure at least some of it was said because in part because people assumed she was older than her age. And we know Blue saw what people were saying about her online too. Edited November 11 by swissman 2

UnusualBoy Posted November 11 Posted November 11 She looks cute and it's starting to look more and more to Bey, thank God. 1
LadyDiana Posted November 11 Posted November 11 She is stunning! Beautiful young woman! Now someone get her few back up singers, this gitl is a born leader!
Tm4074 Posted November 11 Posted November 11 She looks so much like Bey it's tripping me out. She's very beautiful though. Idk she doesn't look much older than her actual age to me (she's turning 13 in January), around 13/14 if I had to guess without knowing her age beforehand. Most 12-year-old females have already hit puberty and are close to their adult height at that point so maybe that's throwing people off compared to seeing her a year or two ago. She also just looks a little older because she's done up and rich so she can afford to look better than most other 12-year-olds who maybe would look more awkward at this stage lol.

There's a lot of pressure on her to be or act a certain way, and I think Bey has done a good job at allowing her to still do things in public while encouraging her to keep her opinions private until she's older.
Titanbaddie Posted November 12 Posted November 12 She does look like she's had a growth spurt which is normal for a child her age but she still is a child. I do worry about the amount of attention and media scrutiny she's about to experience when she's in her mid teens. People tend to be unkind to young black girls and have very little sympathy for the children of mega stars (see MJ and Whitney's kids) 1
lauren198 Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Girls grow the most between the ages of 12 and 15. She getting tall now is normal, just so you know
Phaunzie Posted November 12 Posted November 12 (edited) Wait, who is that? Wait, how old is Blue Ivy????? I think it is the makeup that makes her looks like she is in her late teens. She looks like her mother during her Destiny Child days. Edited November 12 by Phaunzie
SinnerCity Posted November 12 Posted November 12 And to think people had the audacity to say nasty things to her when she was just a little girl, she looks beautiful and she's going to be such a beautiful woman in the years to come
