swissman Posted Monday at 05:40 PM Posted Monday at 05:40 PM (edited) Blue Ivy is 12, turning 13 in a few months. I think it's important to frame discussion of her age by noting that it is a common, studied problem where Black girls are often considered to be older than their age by others and that this can and does lead to any number of unfair or harmful situations including being treated in a way that is not appropriate for their age, having less sympathy for things they are dealing with, being held to different standards, etc. etc. There is a (rather short) article on it here if you are interested in learning more. It's also worth noting that the same "aging-up" thing happened to Beyoncé too, who debuted in the industry at 16 with many not believing that she was that age, and rumours of her having lied about her age existing still to this day. This is a very good analysis, but also worth noting that pre-teens and younger teenagers in general always want to look older because they want to be taken seriously and not judged based on their age. I think social media has helped make it even easier to find good references and pull off more mature looks. @OP She looks absolutely stunning
