Israeli man suspected of racial abuse and active corruption is released after custody hearing in Bahia; defense claims innocence

The Israeli man suspected of racial abuse and active corruption on Boipeba Island, a tourist destination in Cairu, in the lower south of Bahia, was released on Thursday (7), two days after allegedly committing the crimes. The information was released to g1 by police officer Tiago Campos, who works at the city's Territorial Police Station. Identified as Shlomo Rein Negev Tobiana, the 20-year-old was arrested on Tuesday afternoon (5), suspected of calling two black workers who transport luggage and goods in the region monkeys. The tourist is also accused of trying to bribe police officers to avoid being arrested. His lawyers denies the crimes.

The Israeli man underwent a custody hearing on Thursday and the Bahia court granted him provisional release. There are no details, however, about the content of the decision. G1 attempted to contact the Israeli Embassy in Brazil, but had not received a response by the time this report was last updated.

Bahia is the brazilian state with the largest black population. Racism is illegal and a non-bailable criminal offense in Brazil according to the law.

Israeli =/= Jew necessarily (even tho almost 74% of the population is Jewish)

No matter what their religion/nationality is, racists deserve to get called out :clap3:

No one

ATRL Zionists: This is violence and the man should have been arrested. This is anti-semitic. It's ok to attack people with hate speech and expect zero reactions/consequences.

Yes, but there's very strong anti Israel stance at the moment (which is deserved), but picking up on one Israeli person who committed a crime in some random country is giving a very biased vilifying angle. Where is this energy for other crimes committed today? Why is the Israeli citizen gets singled out with a thread where everyone is ganging up on that? This is extended hate based on nationality which is strongly tied to ethnicity that has been vilified for millenia, that's why it's giving antisemitism. You are all horny to drag Israel, which is fine, but this isn't.

How can the only democracy in the Middle East export that many racist people? :'(

Maybe this is someone who hasn't yet joined the most moral army in the world, thus hasn't yet learned their principles of morality? :'(
