Letters From Adi Posted November 8 Posted November 8 How is this state turning redder each election cycle? 2016: 31.62% 2020: 34.32% 2024: 40.1% (60% in, so this should lower a bit but still...) Spoiler Also, not the OP being a native American Trumpster Why have so many minorities suddenly shifted to Trump enmasse? 1
Virgos Groove Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) I thought this was gonna be about the "abolish slavery" referendum which was rejected despite not having an actual opposition movement. California is truly the Switzerland of America (derogatory). Edited November 8 by Virgos Groove 1

Timber Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) It's barely 58% done. Edited November 8 by Timber
kimberly Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Californians are disenfranchised by the Electoral College and feel like their votes don't matter in the Presidential election (which is true). 2
jdanton2 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 before Clinton the Republicans tended to win California . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_elections_in_California
family.guy123 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 It's a worldwide thing. Look it up. People are sick of it.

kimberly Posted November 8 Posted November 8 1 minute ago, 45seconds said: If you're a Republican. If you're a Democrat as well. California is one of the safest BLUE states. Even if you go vote for the Democratic candidate, even if that candidate overwhelmingly wins the popular vote, it all depends on the Electoral College results. So many people have a "why bother" attitude because of that, especially this year when Dems have been openly genocidal. 3
l3disko Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I always imagined California as a place where people are desperate for change and things getting worse - increase of crime, homelessness, massive rent increases, etc, etc. You always hear about people moving out.
MP3 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 They see what's going on in the major cities and they want changes that's all

California ranks very high among states where people born in it actually remain there: It's true that migration has been in the negative, but it's mostly due to COVID-19 and a lot of expats moving back with the advent of remote work (and those workplaces not requiring people to relocate to CA when they're hired, like they used to).
MusicLoverDude Posted November 8 Posted November 8 A lot of people complain about gas and grocery prices here, just like everywhere else. I come from an LA suburb as well, which was very purple. A lot of Dems but also a lot of Republicans.
Cyanide Posted November 8 Posted November 8 People are voting based off of issues in the cities like homelessness, crime, cost of living, etc. and not identity politics

rivers Posted November 8 Posted November 8 People are tired of the status quo. Democrats need to provide an alternative option or else they are toast. 1
VOSS Posted November 8 Posted November 8 They haven't built enough housing. That's literally it. California is one of the most expensive and difficult places to build anything.
Raver Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Newsom's impacT & some of you want him to run for president
