Armani? Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Latino men voted slightly more Republican than White women in this election in the media exit poll, from 36% in 2020 to 55% now Latinas were more resilient but still swung from 30% Trump in 2020 to 38% now. Should we expect this realignment to stay about the same in midterms & the next election? If so how are Democrats going to win sunbelt battlegrounds? And it will still slightly make it more difficult in the Rust Belt at close margins? How do we gain back support from the Latino community? Are Democrats just going to try to polarize the White vote by going after college graduates to make up the difference?
Popular Post The7thStranger Posted November 7 Popular Post Posted November 7 Well one of the biggest issues with the "Latino vote" is that is encompasses so many different groups of people with very different realities. I think Democrats need to reach each of those groups where they are rather than just assuming they're all the same and that their votes are in the bag. 15
Breathe On Moi Posted November 7 Posted November 7 how did Latino men vote when it was Hilary? I think you'll find a pattern there
Richie Posted November 7 Posted November 7 There is still a lot of Machismo in the latino community... If the democrat candidate would've been male the turnout would be better among latino males. 10
BrokenMachine Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) It's sad, but a white latin will always feel white first, and latin second. A straight latin, will be straight first, and then latin. Same with latin men. What I mean is tons of them can fall into the conservative narrative Trump claims. Democrats have failed to do something like that (sell a 'solid' narrative), and the fear-mongering has failed each time Edited November 7 by BrokenMachine
Alongoria13 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 As a Mexican myself who lived on the border for 22 years, there's nothing worse than a latino with papers holier than thou attitude so it doesn't surprise me that much. 2 3

vuelve88 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Nothing. They let Trump enact his policies that affect Latinos, because Latinos voted for that. 3 8
Junipero Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) Let's be honest; at this point, there are likely more Latinos who are now second- or third-generation than immigrants or first-generation. Many of them probably have citizenship through the 14th Amendment or may have obtained it through the amnesty program during the Reagan era, or have parents/grandparents who obtained citizenship through these means(IF the family member came into the US undocumented). Back in 2008, there were still many undocumented Latinos or individuals with undocumented parents, which gave them a reason to support Democrats. But the situation is different now, and perhaps the only undocumented family members they have are their grandparents, who they feel have a low risk of deportation. I often hear these people say, "When my family came to America, they came for freedom!"—which isn't entirely accurate, as most people who cross are economic migrants. Instead, they may be projecting this idea to justify why OTHER Latino groups should face deportation. Flash forward 18 years, and we have a migrant crisis, with many "new waves" of Latinos arriving. The majority of Latinos in the U.S. are of Mexican descent, yet some Mexican Americans appear to show sympathy only for migrants from Mexico, while displaying xenophobia toward Central and South American migrants—even though previous migrant groups from different eras (the '80s, '90s, etc.) had similar crime levels. If the Democrats wants Latino men, they probably need to "sell out" and have harder immigration stances similar to what Trump offered; they are blaming immigrants for taking jobs, but the truth is, men are afraid of loosing their jobs because they want to feel like providers of a household(and loosing a job means they will feel emasculated.). I also think they need equivalent masculine men to Andrew Tate in the manosphere, perhaps someone who is like a younger Arnold Schwazenegger. Edited November 7 by Junipero
Airelinn Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Deport them *Peruan immigrant complaining about kamala and Biden letting immigrants enter the country* PS: jk 2
superglowy Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Wait till Trumps policies knock them on their ass and they'll magically come back. 3
jordanjm Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I've lost all empathy. Get their families out of here. Get all undocumented people out. Unnaturalize people (they are doing this as well). They want to act like they have a seat at the table? They need to be reminded of the realities of conservative values. 6 5
Onyxmage Posted November 7 Posted November 7 We dont have to do anything, Trump will show them how wrong they were to vote for him. Karma she keeps receipts. 3 1
CandleGuy Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Ironically, get tougher on immigration. No one hates an illegal immigrant more than a legal immigrant.
XAMJ Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Nothing it's a lost vote- they need to go back to the working class and have more liberal policies instead of focusing on social justice issues cause cleverly America doesn't give a **** about their neighbor
Bloodflowers. Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Listen to their concerns and opinions and try offering them genuine solutions and not attack them. Swing voters that is, I'm not talking about conservative latino voters 1
Archetype Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) I think it was a fallacy for Dems to think they would stick with a more socially progressive party once citizenship and legal status stopped being their primary worries in life. Many Latinos have a religious and more conservative background, especially Gen X and older, who unfortunately fit more within the Republican Party than anywhere else. Edited November 8 by Archetype
Raver Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Well for starters the left can stop lumping Latino Americans with the migrants that came in illegally the last 4 years.
Rhyme Posted November 8 Posted November 8 How do you fix the willingness to turn your back on where you came from and how you got to be in America? 1
