Where's Ashlee Simpson?

Not even being shady but this is the first thing that comes to mind and thus the most iconic. Who even remembers the ones on this list.

Sometimes, the SNL stage exposes musicians as lip-synchers (hello, Ashlee Simpson!) or dullards.

Outside of a few good performances, SNL doesn't have that many iconic good performances, in fact most people probably don't remember 90% of this list. SNL seems more known for mess or controversy, like Ashlee Simpson, or Lana Del Rey. I'd say the most iconic performance is Sinead O'Conner tearing up a picture of the pope (would've had that at number 1).
