AvadaKedavra Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) I'm a Latino from South America, and I frequently navigate both. American and Latino spaces, allowing me to share my perspective on these issues. Our Latin American countries have suffered under awful extreme left governments or dictatorships (Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Argentina), and soon Colombia may follow suit as insurgent groups are slowly takin control over my country cause our president is friends with maduro and allowing those groups to take over. Latinos, in general, are very afraid of the left in this past 2 decades. This fear leads them to view anything left-leaning as a cancer, believing that right-wing politics will save the world. However, they have not realized that the far right and far left are often more similar than they think. Tankies and Fascists are so similar. Political education in our countries-communities is lacking. Many people do not understand the dangers posed by extreme political figures; they swing from one extreme to another like a pendulum. Politicians often benefit from maintaining a poorly educated populace, as it allows them to control the masses. All the inmigrants carry that to the USA. But Europe is gettin more extremist and White Americans are too. Everyone is just embracing extremists today. The world is goin Loco-Crazy A significant number of Latinos who have moved to the United States come from very wealthy-upper backgrounds and tend to be classist-conservative My brother is currently living legally in Arkansas, which surprises-shocked us because we do not come from a wealthy background. Is a miracle he was able to move to the States. My brother was pro-kamala but sadly he cant vote. Many U.S.-born Latinos also find themselves in advantageous positions and can be egotistical, viewing their counterparts in Latin America as inferior. One example of this is: American latino artists like Bad Bunny, J.Lo, and Residente have been mean to artists from latinoamerica (mexico-colombia) and threw shade Even within U.S. universities, American Latinos born have sometimes separate groups from latino immigrants and express disdain for those who immigrate, wanting all the opportunities for themselves. This is not exclusive to latinos. I seen so much hate from black americans to africans specially in lipstick alley from asian americans to their asian native counterparts too Americans simply hate inmigrants. They want all the cake for themselves only. So many voted for trump cause they just hate inmigrants. The rich dont wanna share their luxuries 4. I'm constantly active in Latino social media spaces, and we are bombarded with far-right propaganda all the time. I see it everywhere. This has become particularly noticeable in recent years, especially on TikTok and Twitter. Sometimes, I feel like Russia and China might be behind this to destabilize the United States, while the likes of Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, TikTok, and YouTube's CEO allow it to happen. 5. One of the biggest issues from latinoamerica above everything is Machismo. We are catholic. Women are seen as less. Feminists also have bad reputation here in the last years. Kamala is a woman. She's seen as weak by so many latin men 6. I been noticing how in recent years christian churches are gettin bigger than ever. They have too much power. They know it was a good business and everyone has their christin church now Just look how Camilo the Singer or Farruko are promoting their churches. 7. I blame Katy Perry. She's the new Becky G with the curse. I dislike how everyone is now blaming Latinos or minorities for all of this i even saw someone blaming black men Trump is a white man; who is the common denominator here? The problem lies with rich white straight men. The majority of voters in the United States are white. Show me the statistics on total voter demographics by race—not just in swing states—and let's examine who are Trump's primary supporters. So please stop with the annoying passive agressive racism Yes lets blame all the minorities for the wrongdoings of their white majorly party destroying everything right? Dejenos quietas gatas mustias.

Starfish Posted November 6 Posted November 6 They just don't want new Latinos coming in making them look bad because they did not acclimate to the culture yet. It is a natural reaction but you can't say that here.

constantinople Posted November 6 Posted November 6 7 hours ago, helpthomas said: how the **** is that actually the case...? how did trumps campaign and racist remarks get a majority of latino men on his side...? Because they think Kamala is "socialist" and they came from countries where the left is demonized since the 20th century when the United States influenced/overthrew local governments and installed far-right governments during the Cold War It's not "because they are latinos", but the old ancient latin american myth of the "ghost of communism"

But in rural areas people are as conservative as usual. It's not that different to the US.
