celeb news Nicki starts recording NM6 ('Pink Friday 3'); reveals plans for touring after album

She revealed on her Instagram live that she has begun recording the next album (presumably 'Pink Friday 3' as she had announced a few weeks ago) and that there are plans to tour after the album is done.

 

She plans to embark on a new tour (that would serve as a continuation in a way) or an extension—a 3rd leg—of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, referred to as 'Gag City Tour Part 3' by her. The PF2 tour was nicknamed by Nicki and her fans/AKA the Gag City tour.

 

(part 3 because the second US leg was 'Gag City Reloaded' - technically part 2).

I don't buy this. Unlike other girls she does SELL and can TOUR but if Nicki releases another album so soon, I'd be shocked.

Wait....why is she extending 1 tour? Is she trying to inflate the numbers more? Usually a new album is done "during" the tour not after the leg is done and then extending it....

It's become a more common tactic in recent years. Pink released Hurts 2B Human between legs of the Beautiful Trauma tour. Taylor with Tortured Poets (and a couple re-records) during The Eras Tour. Coldplay just put out Moon Music mid their Music of the Spheres Tour (which started in 2022 and is still going to be going in 2025. I think Ed Sheeran did it before too.

 

It extends the tour and makes it easier to extend and maintain records. With this tour becoming the highest grossing tour by a female rapper earlier this year, it makes sense (given how much Nicki historically has cared about records) that she'd want to pad that out and extend it to make it harder for that record to eventually be broken.

I know...what I'm trying to say is I feel like this is the first I've heard an artist balantly say they're extending their tour cuz of their new album and not just announce the tour extension and release the album in the  middle of it.

The I know was referring to other artists doing this not being so balantly in doing it.

  Musically she's been in a really bad headspace for a while now and it doesn't look like this album will be any better. 

I haven't seen someone regress like this since Lady Gaga last decade.
