Burn Posted October 26 Posted October 26 At the VMAs 2009 - the night that changed the course of Taylor's career forever - after Kanye's infamous outburst spoiling Taylor's moment, later in the show when Beyoncé won an award, she very kindly invited Taylor to come up on stage to have her moment again. Which led to their friendship and support for each other over the years. Do you remember this moment from that iconic night? 4
modeblock Posted October 26 Posted October 26 I didn't remember this - Beyoncé is such a gracious legend.
itshyolee Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Bey was so sweet for this. But ofc Swifties hate her for some odd reason.

trainsskyscrapers Posted October 26 Posted October 26 (edited) I think Beyonce's mini-speech really put into perspective how long she has been on or near the top, willing to share with other women without sabotage. 1997 was the first time she reached the Top 5 of the Hot 100. And the DC girls won their first VMA in 2000. It is clear to me that she likes Taylor (and both make an effort to support the other's endeavors), and appreciates Taylor taking inspiration from various moves she has made in her career, but hates how Taylor's team (like Ariana's team and Rihanna's team at various points in the last 15 years) as well as the media continue to push narratives as if she is threatened with them or competing with them. That AMC article in which the CEO revealed with ease and glee that he leaked information about Beyonce's film (causing her to rush through editing to release) because distributors were mad about not receiving intel of Taylor's film until Taylor gave AMC permission to share explains the relationship to a T. He literally broke a contract (and she was about to pull the plug on the whole movie)... so I hope she releases her future projects elsewhere. (Since I'm sure AMC is wrapped up in legal discussions now with Beyonce's camp, we probably won't be getting that Renaissance film anytime soon, which also explains why it was not wide-released and therefore not eligible for Best Music Film at the Grammys. I wonder if that move has now held the visuals up too, which were potentially going to be released to AMC theatres as well?) https://variety.com/2024/film/features/amc-theatres-bankruptcy-apes-dune-popcorn-taylor-swift-concert-film-1236010310/ Edited October 26 by trainsskyscrapers 1
