Johnny Jacobs Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I dont get the point of a mix tape. Just call it an album

The value of a mixtape ( which used to be free and just to drum up hype for a rappers next album) isn't the same but the reasoning is. I'm certain it's a bunch of songs that didn't fit MEGANs theme. 5 1

They probably don't want to give it the funding a proper studio album promotional era would have ie: it's an EP/mixtape. JoJo had the same thing happen with her last release under Warner and she explained it in detail, despite the project basically being an album and not an EP.

glitch Posted October 3 Posted October 3 MEGAN was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I loved the singles and a couple of the album tracks (Spin and Accent especially) but a lot of it was a bit repetitive. Hoping this is in the vein of Something For Thee Hotties and she adds on some freestyles. 1
jakeisphat Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I'm so happy for Meg. This is honestly the best year of her career. Solo #1, matching the sales of her last album while independent, serving the most cohesive theme in her discography with visuals to match, etc. Most female rappers would not be able to accomplish any of this on their own. I hope the mixtape leans even further into her love for horror. 10
AdrianNicki Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Her mixtapes are better than her albums so that sounds promising.

MEGAN's singles (except Mamushi which might be one of her worst songs ever) were such a step in the right direction but the album cuts were not exactly memorable, experimental or anything we haven't heard before. PR machine aside, we need the focus to be back on the quality of the music rather than the stories that are always looming around it. Hopefully this mixtape is a course correction. 1
