Happylittlepunk Posted October 16 Posted October 16 This servers crashes all the time plus it often doesn't let new members join easily. 1

I feel like we used to be that popular We used to get so many memes going across Twitter and Tumblr. Everyone was checking for what they thought was an inside scoop whenever a new album or single was in the works. We know for sure that pop girls' teams lurked here and on Kworb's site. Sometimes it even seemed like the pop girls themselves did. I remember one night Liddos were posting a series of unrelated videos in the Gaga base thread, and like 10 min later Gaga "randomly" tweeted the same few videos Years of nonstop server issues really decimated this site. I also think the messier part of the userbase left when newATRL launched with 1) more glitches 2) no blogs 3) heightened moderation. The moderation definitely became less harsh after a year or two, but the damage was already done. On oldATRL, the warning and ban system honestly felt more like a game. You tested how much flamebait you could get away with without having to take a little vacation, and then you saw who did the best each month in Kworb's monthly warnings and reports summary. 1

Why are celebrities more likely to reference LSA than ATRL?
Vespertine Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Just now, Josh said: Why are celebrities more likely to reference LSA than ATRL? Because ATRL has been in its flop era. Back in the day, Nicki was tweeting Kworb screenshots and Fergie's lawyer was perched. Gaga infamously tweeted @ Nicole. 1
Baby Dancer Posted October 16 Posted October 16 If any of you have ever been on LSA, you know it's a black girl's 4chan. 2
Smarticle Posted October 16 Posted October 16 ATRL is locked behind making an account. I wonder how many guests browse
Edonis Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Reddit can't be compared to atrl or pop culture forums at all. it's closer to something like tumblr before the porn purge. LSA is mostly made up of people that think Beyoncé killed Aaliyah. The conspiracies alone get enough foot-traffic. 1

imabadkid Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Idk tbh sometimes I feel like ATRL is stuck in the 2010s... like just some of the topics here that are consistently posted about, it's just like... do people still care about this in 2024? Like I don't see it rly being talked about on TikTok, etc. and that's no shade to ATRL, this is ultimately a pop music forum and pop music was at its best in the 2010s but if you're asking why it's not getting the same traffic as other sites that have been around just as long, I think that could be why.... they feel more current than ATRL.
Vixen Eyes Posted October 16 Posted October 16 More often than not, atrl is literally closed to guests without an account to log into. 2

That's definitely one reason. It just seems like an artifact from a bygone era. Like coming to Atrl feels like I'm still in 2018 or something. It'll be the same 10 topics again and again, with the same artists that used to be popular while disparaging anything new. Even having the .net feels so old.
nadiamendell Posted October 16 Posted October 16 The servers really hold this site back, tbh. So many people get frustrated from the crashing and just give up. It's kind of always been part of this site's charm, or maybe it's just stockholm syndrome, I dunno. 1

When did oldATRL discontinue/newATRL launch? And I believe that there have been insiders (prominently) on ATRL which is why the whole insider information thing is part of its reputation. But are the insiders even around at the moment/anymore? The insider info seems to be to a minimum extent or I'm not aware. Ofc not like it's easily accessible/passible or mandatory LOL
laqqinq Posted October 16 Posted October 16 ATRL and Reddit cannot be compared at all. Reddit is anything and everything to make subreddits, posts, and threads about, discuss/find pretty much any topic/interest/like-minded users, and hundreds of thousands of communities. Millions of users. And looooots of porn lmao. ATRL is more of a niche community/forum in itself and caters to a certain interest/range of pop culture topics. I think the amount of activity on the site is actually maybe pretty great and on par with the number of active and recurrent users?
Sailor Moon Posted October 16 Posted October 16 the serves here are horrible, and the site is not available for hours during the day. I sometimes lurk in bcharts (a brazillian forum) and it's so fast, and honestly the layout really encourages to write comments and posts, and doesn't crash. (too bad I don't read the language). If the servers would've been be fixed, and creating accounts was easier, atrl would've been more popular.
