One thing is someone like the weekend saying they dont want grammys ( for obvious reasons) but for somebody that is relatively unknown and is just starting comes off as arrogant.

I love that Chappell dgaf about the rules, sneaky games and politics of Grammy campaigning. She just did what she wanted to do and i support her. I love when the artists are open about their wishes and goals and when they admit they want to win and that they enjoy winning awards especially when the peers chose the winners

She already explained she is specifically campaigning for the Best Packaging grammy award because it's the only one that allows her best friend to win one too. It's quite clear Chappell herself hasn't changed her mind on not gaf about the Grammys, but is doing what she can to help Misha get one.

I'm pretty sure that when you sign to a major label, you're expected to promote your music and this includes grammy promotion.

The Weeknd is probably the only one that gets out of doing that.

The rule appears to list chart numbers, numbers of streams, sales figures, or riaa awards.

 

If you open the tweet it mentions #1 album sales, so that appears to be one sort of chart number, but I'm pretty sure these FYC posters are created by her manager/team, or perhaps her record label. Unless you're an indie artist, you're probably not doing the paperwork for your Grammy submissions.

 

The Grammys are just as much a competition between records labels, as they are between artists, because the labels get a sales boost and they can also use their Grammy success in negotiations to sign new artists.
