SoldierofLove Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Some of Broadway's newest titles are pulling in audiences, which might be more than a little responsible for a cumulative increase of more than 12% at the box office last week compared to the week prior. Chief among those was the Jamie Lloyd-helmed revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard at the St. James. Last week was the West End transfer's second on the boards, and playing just six previews (a typical schedule would have eight), the production joined The $1 Million Club, bringing in $1,075,921.70. With an average ticket price of $118—nothing to scoff at, but a far cry from Hamilton's chart-topping $171—we may well see the production's take soar even higher, particularly as the show's schedule begins to add weekly performances in the weeks ahead. Perhaps most notably, Sunset achieved that box-office win without selling out the large-capacity St. James, filling just 93% of its seats. The $1 Million Club (shows that earned $1 million or more at the box office): Wicked ($2.05 million) The Lion King Hamilton The Outsiders Hell's Kitchen Moulin Rouge! THe Musical MJ The Musical Oh, Mary! Aladdin Sunset Boulevard The Great Gatsby (11 of 32 currently running productions) https://playbill.com/article/broadway-grosses-analysis-sunset-boulevard-joins-the-1-million-club-in-a-6-performance-week I really want to plan a trip to NYC to see this! 2 1

A Legend, she deserves her flowers Let's be real, she wasn't so kind in the pop industry. She should've been solo from the get go as she treated her band members (both Eden's Crush and PCD) as beneath her. Happy for her however, she may not have been the kindest but her talent is undeniable.

Literally not ONE person who has worked with or has been associated with Nicole has EVER said a single bad thing about her or that she treated them badly. It's actually the opposite, everyone that works with her says that she's one of the most humble, down to earth and kind celebrities out there. And people who have meet her, including myself, can confirm. This is why Nicole has NEVER been involved in any kind of feuds. You will not find a single instance where she is shading or speaking negatively about ANYONE in the industry. OT: Incredibly well deserved. A certified SMASH. Commercially and critically acclaimed and will soon snatch every single award. It's literally a MASTERPIECE and Nicole is giving one of THE greatest performances in Broadway history. 1 1

None of Eden's Crush nor PCD has ever said that Nicole mistreated them. The worst things they said about her was that she didn't socialize with them or go out with them. After PCD's breakup, Jessica Sutta (who was the least friendly with Nicole) admitted that she and Nicole were not friends, but Nicole was always professional and she would work with her again. Carmit is the only one who currently trashes Nicole because she sided with Robin in the lawsuit (which is odd since she left the group originally because of issues with Robin). Even Melody confirms her grievances weren't Nicole's fault: Contrary to popular belief, Thornton's issue was never with her fellow bandmates. In fact, it was solely with the label and those behind the scenes. "People would assume that I was so mad at Nicole because she sang and I didn't," Melody Thornton told the Daily Mirror in 2019. "Well, no... it wasn't Nicole's fault. She'd been in groups prior to Pussycat Dolls so the label wanted her to sing leads. Every time I'd say, 'if I could sing more then I wouldn't be the weakest link,' but that didn't fit their [business] agenda. Robin was in a really tough position because she owned the [Pussycat Dolls brand] and had been trying to get this... running for 15 years. So she wasn't going to jeopardize her opportunity for [her brand] for some little girl [like me]." https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/pussycat-dolls-melody-thornton-reveals-13972498 P.S. When Nicole did (rarely) get some creative input, Melody and the others sang more. The video/live/single version of "When I Grow Up" had Nicole as the vocal producer. All the Dolls sang and Melody sang lead on the chorus on that version of the song because Nicole got an opportunity to add them. Edited October 11 by Inverted 2

babycomeround Posted October 11 Posted October 11 (edited) So we're just dismissing Carmit? I'm a fan of PCD but Nicole did not behave the kindest. I understand you may be stans but there is no denying the truth. Congrats to her, she seems very happy and the Broadway show is a hit! But it doesn't take away her past behaviours. Her 'Behind The Music' documentary was very telling when tried to call out the other members for not contributing to the songwriting, as if they were allowed anywhere near the studio. Great PR spin. You're denying reality, 'Doll Domination' was a compromise because her solo career underperformed and she was forced to release another PCD album. Hence why Melody features far less than the debut. Nicole also dictated screen time, which is why Jessica & Melody are seen less on the screen than Ashley & Kimberly. Let's not make up lies to make our faves look good. Nicole also dictated screen time, which is why Jessica & Melody are seen less on the screen than Ashley & Kimberly. Let's not make up lies to make our faves look good. Not you talking about "lies" with that reply. You didn't even bother making the fan fiction believable. 1) No one is dismissing Carmit. We think it's odd that Carmit sided with Robin over Nicole after the lawsuit when she was kicked out of the group after first album because Robin and Interscope thought she aged the group. 2) The VH1 Behind the Music special did NOT have any moment where Nicole "tried to call out the other members for not contributing songwriting." In that portion of the show, they talk about the constant criticism for Nicole being front and center constantly. She responded saying she was always in the center because she sang 95% of the songs. You completely made up what you saw . The whole show is available to watch online and you fabricated what you saw. At least rewatch the videos. And no, they weren't invited to the studio. Even Melody confirmed that she asked the label to contribute more vocals, but it fell on deaf ears. She tried asking Robin, but Robin didn't want to jeopardize her opportunity. The quote from Melody is literally above. At this point you're just willfully ignoring Melody's own words. 3) Doll Domination was Her Name Is Nicole repackaged as a PCD album because Interscope wouldn't release it under her own name since all of Nicole's promo singles flopped. And Melody (along with Jessica) actually has more vocals on Doll Domination than PCD. Elevator, Whatcha Think About That, Painted Windows and Takin Over the World all have Melody solos while only Beep had a Melody solo on the first album. 4) I'm still shocked you're talking about "lies" when the last point you made is a complete and utter lie. Nicole did not "dictate screen time." She did not own the group. You made that up and have zero evidence of that. Ashley and Kimberly got the most screen time after Nicole because they were the white blondes and the label used them to market the group to appeal to the general public because Nicole's look is too "ethnic" for mass appeal. Why do you think they had so many shots of two blondes alone together in the videos? Melody got the least screen time and put in the back of the group because she was constantly criticized for her dance skills. She even confirmed this herself pointing out the contradiction. She signed up to be a vocalist and the label forced her to be a dancer. She was NOT a dancer: Endless criticism from record label executives and frustration for not being given vocals left Melody crushed. "It felt awful, uncomfortable. I was a singer, not a trained dancer, but wasn't allowed to sing and was told I couldn't dance... it was overwhelming." "I'm not a dancer," she insisted. "I'm the only person from the group that was not a dancer. I was always in back of formation for that reason." https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/reality-tv/a25695926/dancing-on-ice-melody-thornton-pussycat-dolls-dance-experience/ https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/pussycat-dolls-melody-thornton-reveals-13972498
UnderratedVocalist Posted October 16 Posted October 16 This week's gross: $1,291,902 Last week: $1,075,922 Average ticket price: $122.10 Attendance: 10,581/11,361 Another million gross week with an increase compared to last with, with 7 shows per week (most Broadway shows have 8) and still in previews.
