Pretty Girls was released on May 4th, 2015 and Britney was in the studio with Alex Da Kid sometime in mid-July 2015 so it's hard to say. I personally would classify it as post Pretty World/super early Glory sessions. Edited October 9 by BraveNewSeth 1
Chemist Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Pretty Girls was god awful but Britney would have slayed 'When I Rule The World' and would have been a cute PC Music collaborator with Hannah Diamond type of music, oh well
MaxMartin Posted October 9 Posted October 9 thank god that album was scrapped. PG was abysmal from the production to the melodies... all.
Peak Now Posted October 9 Posted October 9 So Sucker for Pain (Britney's Version) was meant for this album? Would've been a cute hit for ha (and would've scalped Imagine Dragons...)
pink lightning Posted October 9 Posted October 9 In my dreams, Britney recorded When I Rule The World, it became a huge hit responsible for her rebranding and turning into a poster girl for the early PC Music sound, making her record a whole Sophie/Charli/Hannah-penned album and the world would be in peace again 1
WaterDiamonds Posted October 9 Author Posted October 9 7 hours ago, Jeremiah said: 2015 was supposed to be her "droplets" era (Selena copied ha!). Britney said it wasn't her priority to put together an album and Larry said they'd just put out singles for the meantime. Pretty Girls flopping thankfully killed the plans, plans they weren't committed either way as Iggy cried for months to get the song out and then cried again because they refused to properly promote it. Source: Billboard (March 2015) I once saw a breakdown of when Glory's songs were recorded. Not sure how accurate it was but it fitted with other receipts. For example, "Liar" is for sure a 2014 song and so is "Clumsy", I think. The interview for Billboard even though published march of 2015 was from november of 2014, right after she started recording, so it's no surprise she said it wasn't a priority as she was just starting the project, also, I remember Larry also said in another interview that even tho an album wasn't guaranteed, an EP was likely, but I can't find where he said it. Also Iggy herself said the song was only given to Britney bc it was going to be first released as the lead single of her album that was ready, so I doubt her team would lie to her for such song 💀 Liar is from the Jason Evigan sessions which makes sense if they happened in 2014 as he was also involved into Hilary's This Heart, so he could've been passed to Britney thanks to Rani, but idk about Clumsy, bc the Oak sessions were probably from Summer of 2015 and he already knew Britney bc he worked at the Circus and the Teresa Labarbera's Femme Fatale writing camps, so it was a matter of time before Britney picked up some of his material, I guess.

Her version of Sucked for Pain was always intended for the SS soundtrack, unlike Rihanna's that at some point was for her own project, and it was recorded in July of 2015 (Already Glory sessions), so not at all hehe 2
Mupps Posted October 9 Posted October 9 If glory's track list was reshuffled and a few songs taken out it would be in her top 3 albums, it's actually so good! 1
xokuba Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Anything would be an upgrade from Britney Jean tbh I loved how Glory turned out. Private Show is an annoying mess but I've grown to love it
ATRL Administrator Ryan Posted October 9 ATRL Administrator Posted October 9 The story of what almost was in relation to her unreleased catalog is truly remarkable. Thank you for this great ATRL original, OP! 1

WaterDiamonds Posted October 9 Author Posted October 9 @RideOrDie sis would you be willing to actually spill the real tea and tell us a tracklist, insightful details or even the working name of the project, the B-Army is starving 🙏🏼
Migs Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Glory is Britney's best album since Circus imo, so I'm really glad that anything related to the Pretty Girls - which is horrible - era was scrapped.

Also, there's this one pitch demo that idk how to feel about bc it's corny yet so off the wall? 😭 This ended up being released by J-Pop Queen Koda Kumi:
ZENO Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Tbh, I wish a proper PC Music album full of When I Rule The World-like songs happened.
Breathe On Moi Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Britney's career will forever be the most interesting main pop girl career ever, that's why she's my mom. 1
Trash Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I just listened to When I Rule The World, its so perfect for Britney and specially at the time. Imagine her recording more of that and Toms Diner instead of what we got with Britney Jean and pre-Glory

I mean, Britney was recording music (she used to always do), in the very "droplets" statement they say an album would eventually come, but it all screams insecurity and that they'd rather to test first before going full on with an album. I wouldn't take Iggy as spokesperson, she's giving T-Pain saying "Hot As Ice" would be the lead for Blackout. "Pretty Girls" happened quite fast. Britney was asked during the panties tour who she'd like to collab with and she said Katy Perry and Iggy. Larry moved fast and they had the song ready that same month. Iggy teased it in Sept 2014, confirmed it in Nov 2014 and called it Britney's lead in Dec 2014. Actually, everything we knew about the song came from Iggy's big mouth. She kept on pressuring, saying she'd take the song instead and even once called it the lead for her second album, but I guess Britney's team wanted the song so gave it green light for release. I have no doubt they'd have enough material for an album but yourself posted Britney saying she wasn't feeling the material pre-Karen Kwak, so for me the Glory we got is the true Britney in "all her glory" and the artsy-fartsy music she was aiming for. Here's the recording dates I talked about before (taken from Exhale): Invitation 12/15, maj rev. 4/16 Make Me… (feat. G-Eazy) 10/15, rev 3/16 Private Show 7/15, rev 3/16 Man On The Moon 12/15, maj rev 4/16 Just Luv Me 11/15, maj rev 6/16 Clumsy 9/14, 6/15 Do You Wanna Come Over? 11/15 Slumber Party 12/15 Just Like Me 4/16 Love Me Down 3/16 Hard To Forget Ya 7/15, 4/16 What You Need 7/15 Better 11/15, rev 4/16 Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes) 12/15 Liar 9/14 If I'm Dancing - 7/15 Coupure Électrique - 12/15 Mood Ring - 6/15 "Liar" was done during an Aspen writing camp in Sept 2014. A BMI report said it was music to be recorded by Britney and Ariana Grande. All songwriters of the song are pictured here: https://deniserichsongs.com/news/aspen-2014/ So "Liar" checks as a "Pretty World" song (if you may). About "Clumsy", I don't know where the claim comes from.

About "Clumsy", I don't know where the claim comes from. To be fair Hot As I've was indeed meant to be a single of Blackout so T-Pain wasn't too far off, but yeah him and Iggy were too vocal for their own good, which makes me wonder how the song wasn't scrapped considering how secretive Britney's team was at the time, no wonder why they raided her whole house when they met to discuss the concept of the video LMFAO. I think she was genuinely enjoying the material, or at least the one that we've heard so far bc she's singing her ass off in Exaholic, Youtopia and ICB, she was doing adlibing left and right which is something that hadn't happened since Circus; when Britney doesn't like a song you can tell by the way she cuts the lead vocals as quick as possible and the track is carried by various background vocalists like in FF. The main reason that makes me believe Pretty Girls wasn't a droplet is the intensive promotion it got which was better than WB's and Make Me's + Her cheap ass team wouldn't pay a graphic designer to update all the graphics of her official web just for a standalone single, they didn't do it for 3 (By far the most important of these songs), Ooh La La or Tom's Diner so why would a random collab with Iggy out of all people get such treatment? Btw they probably claim Clumsy is from 2014 bc the producer of the track, Oak, is there, he's the guy in the red shirt, right next to Jason Evigan who's wearing the "Hello Brooklyn" tee. Interestingly enough Julia Michaels is in that picture as well! All the way to the left, she's hugging that lady with the crazy bangs. Isn't it funny that she might have submitted material even before being introduced to Britney by Karen? 1

I wouldn't call the promo for Pretty Girls "intensive" (all she did was a pre-recorded performance on her own Vegas stage ), but the new graphics (for the website and the Uber van) are indeed interesting and leaves you thinking, because they weren't made just because and they're not from the PG artwork. Anyways. If "Liar" is what they rescued from those sessions, then it's clear it was not worth it. 14 hours ago, WaterDiamonds said: Btw they probably claim Clumsy is from 2014 bc the producer of the track, Oak, is there, he's the guy in the red shirt, right next to Jason Evigan who's wearing the "Hello Brooklyn" tee. Btw, how do you know the Billboard interview is from Nov 2014? Because I just thought of reading it and I'm sure it's from 2015, probably February. It's mentioned Arnold Schwarzenegger attended her show in New Year's Eve and Britney referred to it as "kind of weird". It's extra interesting because the "just singles" statement from Larry doesn't appear in the printed version, so it probably was an added quote for the digital news. Edited October 11 by Jeremiah 1

Well then idk where the claims from Clumsy being from 2014 come from since nor Oak, Talay Riley or Alex Niceforo were there, but considering it was a camp sharing with Ariani and that he worked with her for My Everything maybe he also submitted material for both of them around that time without necessarily being in the Aspen writing camp, still doubting about it. I got the interviews mixed up as well, the one that was from november but released in march was the V Magazine one, yeah that interview is most likely from February considering the shoot is also from that month and the new year's party hosted by Miley's acknowledgedment (I need to get up and have my coffee before replying before getting in here bc my morning thoughts are A MESS gosh)

I think we just gotta be thankful it never came to be But I wouldn't complain if we got leaks from that period. I wonder if it's possible to stipulate anything more from the Aspen camp, and if there were more camps and who were in them...
