hiiii besties thought it might be a good idea to ask about this in a music forum :intoit:

 so i've been using my Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro's since 2021 & now looking to upgrade my earbuds. they still work flawlessly but i'm looking for an even more high end device now. the audio quality, sound stage & design are my first priority.

 even though the new Galaxy Buds 3 Pro's are really good, they are cheaper than what i'm searching for & there are even better devices suited for audiophiles and such so they're not an option for me.

 so as a result I decided to get either Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 or the Sony WF-1000XM5's....

 is there anyone here who tried both of these earbuds and can compare them, or someone who's currently using one of them and have something to share? thank you so much!!

ps. please don't mention anything about Apple AirPods Pro 2's in this thread - compared to others they're mid at best when it comes to sound quality and i'm definitely not getting them.

oh - interesting question. my sister got the same model of Sony earbuds you're talking about last week and she said she didn't like the sound quality. I did try them on and the sound quality was subpar.

I had Bose earphones a few years ago and they were immaculate and they're really good overall (I have speakers from them) and the earbuds have great reviews. I might get them for xmas now that I think about.

thanks!! this is extremely surprising to hear after reading all the professional reviews. with which phone did she try them? i forgot to write on my thread but if she was using an Apple, they force all the Bluetooth earbuds other than AirPods to use the AAC codec which ruins the idea of getting premium earbuds when you can't use them to their full potential, it's literally an abandoned, low quality codec. only Android supports LDAC & aptX Adaptive. if it wasn't an iPhone then maybe the sound signature/tuning is too neutral which i also don't like normally. i was already leaning towards Sennheiser since their design definitely looks and feels more premium so hearing this is really important for me...

so I did some extra digging. yes, she owns an iPhone so it could be that. it's probably that actually.

and as far as SH goes, the reviews seem mixed. watched a few sound engineers test it and they don't have the best quality either.

I'm kind of all over the place.

I like a good bass, clear highs and lows and vocally centered. dynamic. I'll see if I can get to try these somehow.

if u use them for sitting at home get the sennheiser

if soundquality isn't going to be maximized by you (you actually need bluetooth equipment that can olay it and u need to hse the top soundquity) get the bose since theyre more comfortable and stylish

tho tbh i got the bose headphones and i lowkey dont like how it plays my favorite song piece of me? but it plays other electronic music really well so im still undecided

I've had the Sonys XM4s and XM5s and think they are absolutely incredible. The thing with Sony products, not unlike other brands, is that their sound out of the box isn't everyone's taste. The upside to Sony's is that they are very customizable and people have posted their preferred EQ set-ups which are super helpful. The soundstage and LDAC features are also really nice. From a personal perspective, including people in my life that have had numerous headphones, Sony typically provides the most consistent fulfillment.

Also, check out this site. They do a fairly comprehensive comparison not only between these two headphones but just about every one on the market:https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/sony-wf-1000xm5-truly-wireless-vs-sennheiser-momentum-true-wireless-4/38974/49892
