Lloyd Minaj Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Interesting. This seems like such a huge gamble. Has any other black rapper besides Jay-Z headlined a stadium tour before?
Cheers Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Thank God. I would have been pissed if he was headlining my first Coachella. No shade!
frankvert Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Oh trust I will be attending the Drake is a Pedo World Tour 1

The halftime show will definitely help with sales. I've just seen that Travis did a few stadiums for his most recent tour so that gives me a lot more hope for Kendrick

truthteller Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Didn't he headline coachella before… I'm sure he can sell out his new tour with ease anyways. 1
Rep2000 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Sound like we are gonna have Mainstream Kendrick back for this era. Hype!

mons†er Posted October 7 Posted October 7 This is going to sell out fast. Especially with 'Not Like Us' becoming a movement. He's going to wind up having the Highest Grossing Hip-Hop Tour in history and could possibly walk away with Tour Of The Year. KDot is literally dismantling Drake piece by piece.
Beyonnaise Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) As we know there's only a handful of artists that can sell out a full football stadium tour (Taylor, Beyonce, Ed, Harry if he attempted it.) I don't know why artists on the tier slightly below that don't do mixed tours with a few stadium dates in big metro areas and mostly arenas in mid-sized markets. I know logistically a stadium tour and arena tour have different stages etc, but audience size-wise it seems like it would be the smarter option for quite a few artists on that tier (Kendrick, Drake, Rihanna, Gaga, Bieber, Ariana, Billie, Olivia, probably soon Sabrina and Chappell, etc). MLB stadiums are closer to the arena size capacity level, but they could help fill in the gaps in areas where the artist can't fill a full football stadium. Otherwise I'm not sure any of those listed in my last graf is going to ascend to the top full stadium tour sellout tier in the coming years. Rooting for Kendrick to sell out btw, this is just a passing thought I've had for a while when the question of whether an artist can do stadium tours is raised. Edited October 7 by Beyonnaise 1
