That public education could be hugely expensive is the very issue people are addressing. That you're a Canadian national - where the cost of education is regulated in a way it's just not in the US - and seemingly defending this form of gatekeeping upward mobility is very odd. As someone whose household income placed them in the poorest 5% of their state's population at the time of entering college, to the point of being destitute, I'm obviously not going to co-sign your belief that poor people should be denied upward mobility or equal opportunities on the basis that they are poor, and that we should instead be trapped forever in generational poverty. Sounds like a series of terrible decisions by nobody other than yourself, if I'm being honest. Don't act like you had no other choice. Thank you for confirming you know nothing about me or how I grew up. If we're just going to make assumptions about each other, it sounds like you grew up poor, like me, and chose to pursue an education that apparently prevents you from paying your bills, but also allows you to spend hours upon hours on ATR ******* L writing literal essays that are so well researched and sourced. Or are they not? Do you just type in soffie death to Amerikka on Xwitter and post the first thing you see ? 1

WTF is a Xwitter? Who the **** is Soffie? I am exaggerating about a twitter account that I've seen you post a couple times. Maybe it was someone else, idk. I think her name was soffie. She had something like "death to amerikka" in her twitter bio. Honestly I can't keep track of the specifics, nor do I, but her tweets have been posted on this site multiple times as some sort of authoritative force. That is what I was referring to by that. Xwitter because twitter is now called X. Was being cheeky. Maybe check your followers on there for soffie or whatever. What's your major?

Do you know how expensive it is to get a degree that might provide a "high-paying job" in the US? If you come from a poorer or lower income family, you need to invest tens or thousands or 100k+ to get a degree that qualifies you for those exact jobs. It's classic gatekeeping. You're suggesting people should stay where they are and that the government shouldn't make it possible for upward mobility. What is the point in doing anything if you're told to stay poor and for all future generations of your family to stay poor unless someone gets extremely lucky? Do you expect people to just sit around and be happy with that?

If you live in a state that you're not indigenous to, leave.

Do you expect people to just sit around and be happy with that? What? No I don't. And neither does the user I was responding to considering whatever education they received didn't give them a "high paying job". sounds like that user invested those hundreds of thousands into the wrong degree. A degree which somehow prevents them from getting a job worth enough to pay off their debts, but which allows them to act holier than thou for hours upon hours upon hours on *checks notes* Atrl. 1
family.guy123 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Only exception is if you went to college where you're indigenous to. That I can admire. 2
