Who would have thought? These 2 MPGs, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, are both at their best with their singing techniques, 16 years and 13 years respectively into their careers. 

 

Usually other pop girls decline vocally over time but it'a not the same case for these two. Why? No other MPGs can compare. Gaga and Ariana - the Whitney and Mariah of our generation These two voices should star in a Disney movie where Gaga is the main villain and Ariana is the main princess. Their theatric vocals would do best in a musical disney classic.

 

No other MPG could do what Gaga does at 02:00 and onwards

 

Ariana goes WILD at 2:11 in this Supernatural performance  She literally sounds like an angel in this song. It sounds surreal.

I was just about to ask that in her fan base thread but I see you guys talking all the time and I didn't want to derail the conversation. She was very outspoken about the effects of weed when she talked about the message behind Dope but today I saw the Five Foot Two film and she's like... smoking all the time (even tho I'm not really sure what).

It's so funny how OGHs trashed Gaga's vocals during the beginning of Enigma (one of her worst, most depressive periods in life) only to turn around and deliver some of her career-best vocals 5 years later. Talent does always win.

Beyoncé's lows are also peaking. She has never sounded better in her low notes! 
 

Ariana's is definitely peaking with those intense broadway training. Gaga does surprisingly sounds alot less painful on the ears compared to her last several eras!

In Five Foot Two she was smoking a lot of cigarettes and weed still. The overall history is kinda complicated because it does delve into her PTSD, the fibromyalgia pain she used to experience all the time, her hip injury, her struggling with establishing a healthy lifestyle with a good work-life balance. She recently said that she quit smoking weed several years ago and that had been sober from it since before the Chromatica era. It's been very on-off with the cigarettes. Tony used to be on her ass all the time for smoking, Elton is on her ass for smoking too much too.

 

The one in the DWAS cover and video seemingly was a prop cigarette (like one that you can light and smoke, but with no actual tobacco in it), so I'm assuming that Gaga right now isn't smoking at all. When she was a regular smoker you'd always see a cigarette in her hand in paparazzi photos too, but nowadays in candid paparazzi photos of Gaga we haven't seen an actual cigarette in a long time.

Eternal sunshine was the FIRST Ari album where I could understand every word and not have to look up what the hell she was singing at some points! I never thought she could be even better but she did! I believe training for Wicked made her learn opera, which is insane!

I mean probably has to do with the fact that they take their gift seriously and and have done so since the beginning of their respective careers. Gaga used to smoke heavily which you can hear at different times in her career voice-wise. They both have also taken on roles where they've needed to deconstruct their voices and learn new abilities for their roles.

 

I think most pop girls can't really relate and end up ruining their voice one way or another.

I love how much Ariana's voice has matured. Her voice sounds deeper but still kept all of its beauty and richness.

Gaga voice was in a really bad situation between 2019-2022, like REALLY rough and strained

She recovered it tremendously well since Chromatica Ball, and even improved some aspects like her upper register

Ariana is having her healthiest singing techniques ever. During DW she has a lot of tension around her neck area and she often raised her jaw and lengthened her neck back then.

I can tell that her voice is healthier and clearer now, but I just feel like her tone isn't as pretty as it was during the DW era on songs like Into You and Thinking Bout You
