wastedpotential Posted October 3 Posted October 3 This is extremely provocative and seemingly quite reckless (and makes me think Israel is trying to bait the US into fighting it's wars because the Russian bases have basically zero intentions against Israel and are only there to support the Assad regime and protect their port in Syria afaik), but I'm not sure how much escalatory capacity Russia has right now given the amount of resources they have tied up in Ukraine. Russia and Israel have had a weird relationship for a very long time, and while it's certainly worse that it's been (and I imagine this will not improve things), so as long as Israel doesn't try this again in some sort of push to get Russia out of Syria, I don't think there will be a particularly large response. We'll have to see where this goes. 2
Venice B Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I can't live through another major historical event this soon I just can't...
Cheers Posted October 3 Posted October 3 It's obvious that Israel is doing this to make America fight their war. Disgusting. I hope our leaders see through this shite. Let Israel burn. 1

family.guy123 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Can someone learn me how I'm supposed to feel about this? Is this good or bad? Evil or innocent?
VerdantHue Posted October 3 Posted October 3 While WW III is difficult to quantify, large-scale global war is unlikely. Many countries are very interconnected, which discourages catastrophic actions. China, Russia, and the U.S. are all in possession of nuclear weapons and any conflict would result in mutual destruction. Right now we are witnessing regional conflicts or proxy wars (i.e. supplying weapons or funding without direct confrontation). It feels like tensions are boiling over, but globally the desire is to avoid widespread war. Global powers have too much to lose. However, there are many other factors that could lead to the unexpected.
