Selena Gomez, who is doing promo for "Emilia Perez", adresses for the first time her new billionare status over the Rare Beauty super success around the world:

"I'm very grateful. I personally think it's distasteful to talk about money. But i'm really giving all the credits to the people who buy the products. They're the ones that made this dream of mine come true. So i'm really really honored and just happy"

Yes mam, that is a classy answer. What was the interviewer wanting for an answer tho?

Cute but it kinda goes against her "do something that matters" messaging. I could see her being generous though so I hope she does some nice charity in the future.

As the multiple charities she already support and I won't take the time to enlist since you could easily search? On top of the Rare Fund and Wondermind, mental health organizations?

Glad she checked the interviewer a bit. That's such a weird thing to talk to someone about

Keeping it humble :clap3: I like when they are asked unexpected questions like this sometimes, at least we get to see a more interesting reaction.

Wondermind is literally a business where they promote mental health products that you have to buy

The Rare Fund raises donations from other people. They said they are trying to raise 100mil between 2020 and 2030. That's great, but the only report of Selena herself donating money there is $200k she donated for the year of 2021. I'm sure she will have donated a mil or two or three by 2030, but it's still a tiny amount compared to her net worth. The rich don't stay rich by being charitable and it's ridiculous to idolize them

Also the rich get TAX BREAKS for doing charity, meaning they get even more money for doing it than what they already have.

Celebrating billionaires giving peanuts to people that they got from other people's donations is not progressive or useful at all. They horde money to get to be billionaires, thats all. They are not good people, nor brave or intelligent. They are GREEDY and that is it.

''breaking into america'' was mostly to talk about she was breaking into hollywood.

She probably doesn't feel like a billionaire because it's not like this money is on her bank accounts. Maybe a day it will be, but Rare Beauty is still very new and still needs time and funds to establish itself. It also doesn't seem she has changed her lifestyle at all

You can love someone's art while being aware they are probably bad people who have no regard for the less fortunate and are just interested in getting richer.

You do realize Selena is a billionaire by stock value in Rare Beauty and not in cash value right? She can't just donate $100M to a charity without giving up a dramatic percentage of her stake in rare beauty. The more she donates the less she owns and the more corporate people have control of the company.

I cannot stand people who act like these celebrities are just sitting on that amount of actual cash :dies:

This is were the problem is...Selena is not the one buying her products but the same people crying on the internet. Who do you think made Rhianna, Taylor ans her billionaire? But since many people don't wear makeup, they can sit here and complain. But as a woman, who wear fenty and rare beauty. I'm very happy for them because the offer quality products. So come for me for spending on them vs spending on L'Oréal( the real enemy).

And I'm about to spend another 150.00 on fentys beauty lipgloss vault.
