Why is this Rihanna Top 10 hit forgotten?

"Hard" peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, but only has 55m streams on Spotify.

For comparison, other Rated R singles have more streams:

Russian Roulette - 176m

Rude Boy - 634m

Te Amo - 202m

Why is this song practically forgotten amongst her other Top 10 hits?

Because the GP isn't here for 'Rated R'. It's a classic among fans and critics. That album in general is overlooked and not appreciated enough.

Also each of the other RR singles were bigger compared to 'Hard'. 'Rude Boy' also overshadowed any and all success that 'Hard' achieved especially in the urban markets.

Unlike the other singles it wasn't released internationally. Rated R in general is paid dust by the gp, it deserves a resurgence.

It wasn't an official single in Europe (and probably the rest of the world other than the US), so no streams from those countries.

The song is so good though, actually the whole album is. Might be my favourite Rih's work

It wasn't enough trendy/catchy for the standards back then. To think that with a slightly updated base, it would probably easily smash thanks to TT if released today ...

It was only serviced to US radio so a local hit, and it got overshadowed by all of the bigger hits she got in 2010

Rated R in general deserves to get its flowers after all those years. Her best album :clap3:

RR isn't that forgotten.

Anyway, "Hard" is Rihanna's "Begin Again".

Both were the second singles from their 4th albums and had subpar chart performances and were later overshadowed by how huge the third singles were - "Rude Boy" and "IKYWT".

:loki:
