iHype. Posted September 28 Posted September 28 What's the source when her last release, "Big Foot" was under Young Money? Recording contracts finish with full-length releases, so for example if it ended with Pink Friday 2 then any music there on out (inc Big Foot) would've been under new terms. It would make no sense for a standalone diss track to be the last thing for fulfillment of her original contract. 2

I meant to say in terms of charting and popularity. Republic has been refusing to promote Kim's new music for a while

Pop Fan Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Great, Barbz got a new excuse for Onika's tankery...they will now blame this new label for Onika's chart freefalls 1
xxxlamb Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I'm so confused she's not on a new label. She just deleted a middle man the same that Charli did for Brat
FOCK Posted September 28 Posted September 28 (edited) - Nicki has been with Republic, this isn't a new deal, just confirmation that her YM contract has been fulfilled. - She confirmed it herself via SH. - "Do We Have A Problem" was released exclusively under Republic @iHype., so I'm not sure the comment re: how contracts work is all the way accurate. Republic generally does a good job with Nicki - they seem quite lenient and understanding of all her delays (lol) etc. and they have a great working relationship. They're one of the few labels not caught up in the recent mass firing mess. Edited September 28 by FOCK 4

Not always, sometimes a contract period can be defined by a minimum # of songs, which can include droplets 1

Drake was also under Young Money, and his original recording contract didn't end until Scorpion (2018) was released, which was his 8th full length project but dubbed his 5th studio album. His first standalone releases immediately after were under OVO, not Young Money. Showing that his contract was for a specified amount of full lengths, not unique songs. I imagine Nicki has a similar deal as she signed with them around the same year. I think Nicki's next album (which she has been saying is coming in 2025) may be the end of her original contract since it's her 5th studio album, and what she meant is after the next album going forward she won't be under Young Money anymore. However in present that would mean she is still under Young Money until the album actually drops.
Junipero Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Republic is getting all the big artists. At what point are there going to be too many big artists that the label becomes saturated?
