Kayseri Mantisi Posted September 27 Posted September 27 (edited) happy birthday to this classic as one of the greatest debut albums of all time released when she was just 16, this timeless masterpiece not only shaped the lives of millions but also redefined the landscape of pop music. its impact still echoes through the current era, with inspiring a new generation of big artists & setting the stage for creative breakthroughs across the industry. having the 2 time grammy winner no. 1 hit royals which went diamond/14x platinum, it's the most streamed female album of 2013 with over 4 billion streams & still as fresh as the the day it came out with classics that weren't even singles such as Ribs, 400 Lux, A World Alone and more... a cultural reset. RatGod Posted September 27 Posted September 27 This was the first album I ever purchased and I think it really did have a profound impact on my life. It fascinates me how she captures so many emotions in this album that teenage me had a hard time putting to words and she did this all at such a young age. It's hard to revisit this album sometimes because it kind of floods back memories, but I will today in honor of its birthday. 1 3
bielneira Posted September 27 Posted September 27 (edited) Up to this day, nobody encapsulated the feeling of being a teenager as perfect as her. Edited September 27 by bielneira 3 1

BlahBlahBlah Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I love how it feels suburban, and it's so high schooler-ish where any minor inconvenience in your life feels like the end of the world lol. A classic coming of age album for a lot us I think. 2 1
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted September 27 Posted September 27 400 Lux, Ribs, and Buzzcut Season are god-tied songs. Amazing album 1 1
Daddy Posted September 27 Posted September 27 The closest you can get to perfection when it comes to a modern debut album. Immaculate, skipless, timeless, relatable, real. A true masterpiece when it comes to conveying that very specific feeling of being a teenager. Brilliant! 3
PrismaticOwen Posted September 27 Posted September 27 immaculate production and excellent lyrics... Lorde was ahead of her time with this one I fear 2
Gorjesspazze9 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Truly insane she was 16 and wrote Ribs & a World Alone those songs are Coming of Age Movie Soundtrack level classics. 400 Lux & Team and Tennis Court too. In fact the whole album. Legit one of the greatest albums of the 2010's. And it is the best debut album of the millennium. 2

Joesuxx Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Erm 11 years is wild. It's almost as old as she was when she was writing it. The way she made the simplicity of her thoughts sound so complexly beautiful, how she opened and closed with corresponding lyrics, and not to mention how she managed to capture the innocence of youth with the observations of someone way beyond her years was truly astounding. It's not the greatest album of all time but it's a very solid body of work considering it was created in between school and homework. 1 1
Wonderland Posted September 27 Posted September 27 11 YEARS???? The message in Ribs is only getting stronger as the years go on 1 1
