Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted September 25 Posted September 25 (edited) Is that what they call "f*cking" these days? Edited September 25 by Mr. Blue_Shirt
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted September 25 Posted September 25 This is why I hate this interpretation of the Joker. It is so wildly off base from the comics! You can take some mild creative liberties with the Joker but the Joker as a character really only admires Batman for the sake of taunting him and pushing Gotham's hero to his absolute limits. He's not so much in awe of Batman as he sees Batman as his greatest challenge in life to break and destroy. His dependency on Batman, if you want to falsely label it as awe and admiration, is built on an addiction to the toxicity and chaos their dynamic creates. The Batman is the Joker's idea of the ultimate artistic muse to the chaos and destruction he created - the ying to his yang. If no one could stand up to Joker, where's the challenge in that? Where's the fun in chaos without limits and checks and balances for a god-like villain? Them simplying why The Joker is obsessed with Batman to "he would be in awe of his masculinity" is a strange take at best, but really missing a lot of the deep nuances of why The Joker feels such a deep connection to Batman, and why The Joker always wants Batman to come back. Heath Ledger NAILED getting this dynamic across in his portrayal. This version of the Joker for other reasons besides just this never felt accurate to me. It's a great character for Joaquin, but to me it's an entirely different person.

I think it's because Todd/Joaquin's version of the character is supposed to be more of an incel rather than how the Joker was originally portrayed, so I kinda see where he is coming from with this. Typically incels either look up to or feel envious of typical "alpha" males because they feel they don't compare to them (ie. "Chad" and "Tyrone"). Joaquin's emotionally fragile insecure Arthur might look up to Batman in that kind of way.
Princess Aurora Posted September 25 Posted September 25 The way YouTube will be full of annoying people trashing the new Joker movie
Jay07 Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Isn't Batman kind of an incel too? A damaged loner who goes out at nights in a costume to vent his frustrations. 1
