YourFavoriteWeapon Posted September 25 Posted September 25 The way I remember seeing this in theatres as a kid on the midnight showing and everyone collectively GASPED. I don't think any horror film has topped this movie's twist since it's release (though the sequel came close, miss Julia Stiles ate ) 6
perfectillusion204 Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Yes! Granted I was like 12 when I saw it for the first time, my mind was blown. 1

Gossip_Boy Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Yes. When I first watched it I didn't know any spoilers and let me tell you I've never been more gagged in my life while watching a movie. 1

ChandlerBing Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Oh yes, my jaw was on the floor. Made all of my friends watch it after.
Rigalo Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Maybe if you're 14 i can't really talk tho, I stan The Visit which has a somewhat similar twist
JonnyCat Posted October 11 Posted October 11 (edited) Kinda, but I think it could've been done better (at least the execution) vs via phone call. Also - At the time, they used a tagline like "Esther has a secret," but should've just focused on "there's something wrong with Esther". Edited October 11 by JonnyCat

In all seriousness, the movie and its entire twist is so cleverly done and makes sense for the entire plot of the movie as well as is even hinted at throughout the movie in ways and STILL makes people go "OH... MY... GOD!". It made the movie shatter box office records. That's a TWIST! Oprhan's twist was more like a "what can we do to make people shocked at the end?" and wouldn't change the concept or plot at all had it been changed. It also is kinda... corny? I don't think it's all that but even if you do think it's all that please do yourself a favor and watch The Sixth Sense. I haven't been as floored by an ending since and I watched it as a kid years after it was released so I was lucky no one spoiled it for me.
