pride4jc1222 Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Once a giant of American retail, Kmart will be shuttering its last full-size U.S. store next month. Though the brand still operates one smaller storefront in Miami, its only remaining mainland U.S. big-box location in Bridgehampton, New York, will close its doors for good on Oct. 20. Kmart boasted more than 2,000 locations at its peak, only to begin a long decline as it was eclipsed by rivals such as Walmart and Target, filed for Chapter 11, and entered into misguided ventures like its 2004 merger with Sears.
ATRL Administrator Lee!! Posted September 24 ATRL Administrator Posted September 24 The Bridgehampton store was half empty last time I was there with sections of the store already blocked off. I am amazed it even lasted this long. That long term lease deal must have been worth it!
Attitude Posted September 24 Posted September 24 The CEO is going to hell for destroying both Sears and KMart. 1
CottageHore Posted September 24 Posted September 24 I remember eating breakfast at that K-mart cafeteria with my grandparents… or did I dream that?
Danny Milk Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Meanwhile in Australia, Kmart is thriving and there are almost no Targets left 1
Almodusa Posted September 25 Posted September 25 I remember having to break it to my parents that the Union Square K-Mart was no longer open
