UnusualBoy Posted October 18 Posted October 18 The song is good but there's not an excuse for it to be so short, it's not like this is the song that's gonna get her out of the khia assylum, what you doing Jillian?
Miles. Posted October 18 Posted October 18 This is really disappointing, because there's the essence of a great song in there. The verses are awesome, especially Doechii's, but overall it just falls flat. Feels unfinished. Such a waste.
skeeyee Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Doechii is the saving grace of the song… Banks parts sounds uninspired and unfinished sorry to say. I want to like this song so bad. But I am getting my life relistening to godesss rn

skizzo Posted October 18 Posted October 18 speaking of Britney, this song definitely gives me "Blackout" vibes 1
renforshort Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Final thoughts: It's a very inoffensive song so you're able to listen to it over and over again without actually listening to it.. in other words it's 100% something designed specifically for streaming (not a bad thing). You would never hear this on radio because 1) I don't think a clean radio edit would sound good 2) the chorus just isn't catchy enough off the bat.. BUT if you were to hear this on the radio without knowing anything about BANKS or Doechii, whose discography would you be more intrigued to check out? BANKS or Doechii's? Doechii is for sure the best thing about this song. I can't imagine Kim Petras sounding good on here or bringing anything as interesting as Doechii's verse, so I'm very happy that change was made. I think it showcases way more of Doechii's abilities even though it's a BANKS song… which I don't necessarily mind. i want to say this is a step in the right direction for BANKS but I really don't know what direction she's trying to take her career.. she's obv been trying to reach a wider audience but I don't really know if the music she makes HAS a wider audience 😭. definitely A step up (in some ways) from Serpentina which is good. The worst thing about Serpentina (besides it not being A&Red and co-produced by the guy who A&Red and co-produced her first 3) is easily its production. The beats sounds superrrrr amateur and lowkey outdated (almost as if someone who never once produced their music started co-producing 😉). To be fair to the queen, she typically has a main main producer that creates majority of an album with her (GODDESS - SOHN/Tim Anderson/TEES, Alter - Tim Anderson/SOHN, III - BJ Burton) the main producer of Serpentina was this random chick named TALA and she sucked. BANKS has production credit on this song and other than the tired a** tame impala guitar chord, I loveeee how this sounds. Idk if she got any better at producing herself but you can tell she working with good producers again. YAY! With all that said, I haven't been able to turn it off and I keep replaying it 🤷🏼♀️ (might just be because I'm a huge fan of this girl and don't want to see the person who created GODDESS fail) 2
Afterglow Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Is that Britney? Also I love this. It's going to go awf in clubs and events with good sound systems. Doechii slayed.
CottageHore Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Now imagine if this ***** stopped deluding herself into thinking she'll ever be a pop girl with a hit and she gave us a good bridge and a chaotic outro. This could've been so much more and should've been. There's a decent song there but under a minute and a half? I used to stan this woman HARD and her first three albums will keep me full forever but it's sad seeing how she's almost sold out and has absolutely no gains to show for it. Her fanbase isn't getting bigger, her streams are less and less with each release. Hopefully the album has more diversity or I'm out 1 1
Kevin2803 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 I don't know what some of y'all are talking about, this slays so hard. 2

FlyOnTheWall Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Well this was... bad. And I'm one of the rare SerpentiN/A defenders 1
Sabandija Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Doechii's never looked this good before. I think the song would be better with a bridge and an extra chorus.
MusicIsMyMaster Posted October 18 Posted October 18 oh THIS is a bop i stanned GODDESS era really hard, cant believe its been 10 years wtf
Enchanted_Gato13 Posted October 19 Posted October 19 The whole song after Doechii's part is FIIIREEEE! The beginning is def missing something. Not bad. Just missing a lil oomph
sleepevaded Posted October 19 Posted October 19 i can't imagine not loving this song sorry. and while Serpentina wasn't as great as her first three efforts… everyone is a bit too harsh on it for my liking 2

renforshort Posted October 19 Posted October 19 She sent an email out saying this is the lead off her upcoming album which is coming out early next year!!! Quote This song is the first from my upcoming album, which will be out early next year. In many ways, it's a sister album to Goddess. After a decade apart, I've reunited with the core musicians and producers who helped shape my debut. But at the same time, it's something entirely different—bold, innovative, and exciting. I've evolved, not just as an artist, but as a person. Looking back, the person I was 10 years ago had so much to learn about life. I had to empower myself, I had to grow. That journey has been as important as the music itself. And now, I'm bringing all of that to this new project. 2
Yawn Posted October 19 Posted October 19 i'm so obsessed with the doechii verse it really makes the whole song
