The more basic and middlebrow regionals supported the biopic whereas the significant highbrow groups mostly ignored it. And the mention it got at LA was as a runner-up for their music category. Uh, yeah, because the score is amazing. And I mean critic reception in general. The high brow critics loved it in Venice and afterwards and the general RT crowd were more mixed.

The point being that a runner-up mention in a tech category and 1 nomination elsewhere isn't exactly a great haul for something, as you said, was loved by the highbrows in Venice (which is true). If they adored it so much, why did they ignore it at their own award ceremonies? It's also worth mentioning that despite being pegged to easily win something at Venice, particularly the Volpi for KStew, it went home empty-handed. It doesn't add up.

And as amazing as the movie is, I'm not sure they'll appreciate the film with as much gore as it has, even if it is a great arthouse horror thriller like Black Swan winning the Oscar for Natalie Portman.

Those last 20 minutes are plain insanity. I loved it but I don't think the fossils will be here for it. We need the critics to support her HARD. 1
