Katy Perry and the AFL have reportedly disagreed on the pop star's song choice for her blockbuster show at the Grand Final.

 

The AFL secured the 39-year-old as its headline pre-game entertainment act in July — in news that was widely applauded by footy fans.

 

However, it has emerged the league and Perry's representatives have only now settled a drama about the five songs the artist will play.

 

As first reported by leading footy journalist Tom Morris, the AFL made an extraordinary request for the singer to perform only recognised hits from her back catalogue.

 

Perry's camp is reported to have pushed back and wanted to perform two new songs from her comeback album '143'.

 

Morris said on SEN Breakfast on Monday the two camps reached an agreement for Perry to play just one new song.

That song went viral on Tik Tok many times over the past couple years, she's dumb as rocks for not including it on the setlist

I know. It's one of her most remembered songs and she sang EVERY OTHER hit possible in her whole catalog except that one.

 

its kinda like how Beyonce hasn't sang "Irreplaceable" live since the Bush administration. Some artists just really don't like certain hit songs and I imagine Katy doesn't like TOTGA for whatever reason

holy sht i knew things were bad for miss perry (mrs bloom?) but this is really a new low lmao... not to say we haven't had some great openers but it's definitely a year by year kind of thing 

 

also interesting fact but the unofficial anthem for the afl (holy grail by hunters and collectors) steals/samples the guitar riff from 'caught in a feeling' by boston, just in case that wasn't widely known~

They wouldn't be able to make requests to big artists like Taylor/Gaga/Rihanna/Adele/Beyonce/Madonna etc, they can do whatever they want.

Lifetimes sounds ok with her old songs, judging by the VMAs medley. That's the best I can come up with.

The fact she clearly took the gig so she could use it to promote 143 and the AFL said "no thanks".

So now she's gonna have to wear something like this during the performance to let the people know she has a new album out.

Majority of those aren't her biggest hits in Australia, she should do California Gurls, Roar, Rise, I Kissed A Girl and maybe Lifetimes.

Not a local sport in a small country  It's not even a nationally popular sport. It used to be called VFL because it's so disproportionately popular in Victoria (an Australian state).

 

It's like performing at the grand finale of a sport that's only big in Oregon.
