Green Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Picture it...Thursday, September 22, 1994. It was week one of the then new TV season and NBC was about to launch what is now one of the most popular scripted comedies in television history - Friends. It premiered in the Thursday 8:30 p.m. ET time period out of Mad About You and into Seinfeld, and it was an immediate hit. The secret of its long-term success: solid writing and production, plausible situations (excluding, perhaps, that oversized kitchen that no millennial could possibly afford in New York City), and a company of six who had the type of chemistry —and off-screen camaraderie —you just do not find in any sitcom at present. https://www.forbes.com/sites/marcberman1/2024/09/22/friends-turns-30-a-tv-milestone/ 6
Doogle Posted September 23 Posted September 23 People started hating on it as a personality trait recently but the part of me that is super millennial will always have a soft spot for it. The original season especially has the best vibe and is way more replayable than the latter parts of the show. Such a fun atmosphere and it's sad the show didn't maintain that as it got bigger, but nonetheless I'll always be a fan even if I grew up and moved on a bit. RIP Matthew 11
popmusicisdead Posted September 23 Posted September 23 aged worse than Seinfeld. Phoebe was the only great character 1 3
Blackout2006 Posted September 23 Posted September 23 The eDgY people already swarming into the thread to proclaim their detest for this lighthearted 90s capsule comedy show 5
ToMmY Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Jennifer Aniston they could never make me hate you! (or any of the cast) 1
lillavend3r Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Only the last great sitcom ! The chappell roans here already being miserable while their mid favorite comedies can't even touch the worst episode of Friends. 4th most watched finale in US TV history, only behind the big kahunas (MASH, Cheers & Seinfeld) 2
Calvin Posted September 23 Posted September 23 The best sitcom ever. Most Iconic Tv series ever globally. 1

ChooseyLover Posted September 23 Posted September 23 It wasn't part of my childhood but you can't deny the show is extremely iconic and huge moment in entertainment and pop culture. I have to watch it as a Gen-Zer with millennial taste. 2
Green Posted September 23 Author Posted September 23 Season 1 and Season 5 were TV perfection They have so many iconic episodes Season 3 was my least favorite (the whole "we were on a break season") and then it started to get better again in season 4 after Phoebe got pregnant reaching its peaks in Season 5 (when Chandler and Monica started to date and the rest didn't know) and Season 8 (when Rachel was pregnant) Overall my favorite sitcom ever 2
Abracadabra Posted September 23 Posted September 23 It's crazy how relevant and popular this show still is 30 years later, truly the most iconic sitcom (globally) of all time 1
Khal Posted September 23 Posted September 23 So, I guess the last time Leonardo DiCaprio rewatched it was in 2019 2
Lachlan Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Will always remain a comfort show of mine. Some great brilliant episodes. 1
Sad Serenade Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) 30 years later it's still iconic and popular. Edited September 23 by Sad Serenade 1
TouchinFree Posted September 23 Posted September 23 My favourite thing on TV. Just iconic. Every time I watch it it reminds me of the 90's and 00's I still watch it religiously as no other show has this much replay value, but it isn't the same with Mathew's passing. 1
Littlejfrey Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Best comedy ever. Haters can talk and talk all they want, but truth is, no other show will accomplish what this show accomplished 1
