Why Do Pop Girls Stop Wanting To Make Music?

Recommended Posts

  • Selena was always very open that acting is her main love and recently said music is just a hobby.
  • Gaga said she wanted to be an actress but music worked out first.
  • Rihanna abandoned everything to become a make-up lady.
  • Britney has been free for years but no music in sight.
  • Ariana, while still being in the game, puts less effort into her eras and also has her eye on the acting world.
  • In previous years Miley talked of disillusionment with the music industry and celebrity culture in general, but at least she seems to have found her way back.

Because many of them aren't real artists lol. They're a brand with a whole music team behind them. I doubt most pop girls are working out of home studios in their free time just penning random tracks for the sake of artistic expression, Taylor Swift the obvious exception to this.

Have you read ATRL or really any social media? People are evil and after your life is paid for you want to disappear and not deal with said people anymore

unlike other genres, being a popstar is stressful.

u have to stay on top of trends, stand out, petty competitions, become a slave to ur record label whos investing millions in u til u flop. which makes sense why so many 90s, 00s, 10s pop girls are burnt out or over making pop music for the commercial market.

+ the lack of privacy, fame ruining ur relationships, possibility of being SA by studio predators, etc.

Britney never even liked music and you can hear it in all her recordings. Rihanna would rather be a beauty guru. Selena was always going to view Music as a side hustle. Miley, Ariana and Gaga are somewhat passionate about music.

In stressful moments like that they can take a page out of legend Selena's playbook and go on a 20 minute digital cleanse!

I think it being a massive business with a lot of people relying on the popstars success sucks the fun out of it.

because y'all are annoying

The successful ones make a shed load of cash, want to enjoy it and do other things in life.

Flying here there and everywhere living out of a suitcase, great if you're 20 and broke, not so great if you're 30 and loaded. Especially with the nonsense of internet scrutiny thrown in.

unless you have everything under your hood (management, owning masters and writing rights, having as few collaborators as possible) then making music doesn't make you as much money as other entrepreneurships. most profitable is touring, but it is also very taxing and time consuming, so a few artists really enjoy it

also all the artists u mention in the op share one thing in common … trauma from the public and their labels.

But they still benefit from us money wise. We're the ones who keep them in the spotlight ie: Gaga

It requires a lot of hustling, the main moneymaker is touring, which is stressful, the showbiz in general is filled with shitty/abusive people, label contracts are often terrible/too controlling, the list goes on...

We need to appreciate artists who are still dedicated to making music, such as Kylie. She's in her 50s and still feeding us!

Once you've got millions why would you necessarily want the spotlight?

Gaga released an album in 2020, went on tour, has a smash single out now and a new album coming out. She also did a cover album with Tony Bennett. Ariana released 2 albums this decade, did a few standalone singles and remixes with The Weeknd, is starring in an upcoming movie-musical, has confirmed she's been constantly in the studio writing music for a deluxe of ES, and is planning on touring next year. Miley released two albums this decade and has been performing at festivals. They are very much still involved in music and pop culture.

Rihanna and Selena are the only ones that essentially retired for but they aren't the rule for most pop girls. Britney's personal life and how the industry treated her has caused her to leave music for the time being. She was very passionate about it before they ruined it for her.

speaking on Ariana, she still passionate about music and has had a great year so far. We still have a whole soundtrack dropping from her in a few months and a deluxe (hopefully) on the way so she's been feeding us well all year.

however she is past the days of playing this pop girl game like the new girls have had to do this year cause she doesn't have much to prove anymore. and honestly i'm glad she's moved on from that career stage cause it comes with a lot of trauma, abuse, and stress

The only applicable ones here are Britney, Rihanna and Selena, and they were never passionate about music anyway. They got lucky so they went along with it until they cashed as much as possible from it and left.

Well those were Britney's own words.
Britney even said she retired from music.

Because nowadays the risk of flopping after a sucessfull era is bigger and will damage their brand (deals, makeup etc)

For example Rihanna, She had the most sucess with Anti and if she releases something bad it will affect Fenty makeup sales as rihanna will be seen as uncool/dated like Katy Perry

These are the earliest tidings I have caught wind of concerning a potential new album by Ariana. How cool.

They decided to mimic a Sky Ferreira-like career trajectory.

Most of them are capitalists, not artists. Their aim is the money not the music
