I am a HUGE fan of Janet and it's taken a lot of cognitive dissonance to still stan her despite her continued support of her pedo brother. I really don't know what happened but she really changed a lot over the last 15 years and it's a shame to see. She became much more conservative and reclusive and it feels like such a far cry from the trailblazer she once was.

I'll still love her music of course but I really hope she gets it together because this bullshit combined with only one album in 15 years, that stale doco and the constant music announcements and delays along with her team showing zero respect for her legacy just makes her look completely out of touch with reality.

Well, not that many are paying attention to this part of the article...but Janet says her brother Randy is essentially to blame for the lack of music being released.

The interview addresses Black Diamond (she feels bad about not putting it out) and she said that she's recorded a lot of music, but that he doesn't feel the time is right or something along the lines of that...

I just wanna know why folks are doing the most over Madam Veep's mixed race when Obama didn't even get half of this for being bi-racial. Hell, he was half-white, unlike Kamala who is black/brown. That's not to say he didn't deal with racism when running, because he did, but it wasn't about him being mixed with black. It was all over his last name.

I mean, I know the answer why she's getting it more but it is highly disappointing. Like, out of everything going on in the nation and everything that the other side is threatening, THIS is what people are focused on? 'Murica might be cooked.

One, misogyny.

Two, Barack had a black wife + kids so it kinda gave him a "black pass" so to speak. He also looks "blacker" and was better at code-switching.

Kamala looks "racially ambiguous" when her hair is straightened, has a non-black (jewish) husband and kids- so maybe some black people can't relate to her?

It's a very small but vocal minority.

So not only did she not apologize, but she/her team are making sure to let everyone know she didn't?

Her devolution needs to be studied. Imagine being at the forefront of social justice back then, only to deteriorate into this putrid conspiracy theorist loon who stays silent on ALL social problems only to open her mouth to say "Kamala isn't black".

Ugh...tell me about it. Such a disappointing development. "The Knowledge" is literally about the importance of seeking out information and educating oneself on sociopolitical matters, regularly performed by her on tour, yet here she is spouting harmful ignorance.

I'm sorry Miss Jackson, ARE YOU FOR REAL?  :doc:

Even more annoying how so many fans and general music enthusiasts have been strongly defending her legacy and uplifting her art particularly for how ahead of her time Janet was on many aspects, but now these idiotic comments have led to the biggest widespread press she's gotten since the collective reckoning of nipplegate.

While I am admittedly a relatively new fan (properly getting into her in 2021), it's been clear to me that she and her team haven't put in the care and effort they should to properly honour her discography, videography, and cultural presence post-nipplegate, which is very much possible now that Les Moonves is out of the picture and most people are rightfully outraged at how her mainstream career was cut short and her legacy actively diminished for an entire generation. We are rooting for her, but we keep getting so many missed opportunities (her 2019 Glastonbury set, the documentary, the fact we're still waiting for "Black Diamond" nearly five years later). And it's clear the people she chooses to surround herself with are part of the problem and genuinely hold her back - not just professionally but if this interview is any indication, personally as well. I have no words...simply disappointed.

I hope she did this because she's preparing a more personal, better worded and heartfelt video apology and explanation that will be released today.

She doesn't care about this at all. It's just something she heard somewhere and dropped in the interview. Hope no one is waiting too hard for any sort of apology or statement because it's obvious Janet has no interest in actually talking about politics

Wait wtf is going on?!!

JANET FIX THIS! Fire your brother! Randy sent this damn thing in cause he made sure to make it be known HE is the manager

What do you mean a fake manager?! This Mo guy was tied to her Vegas residency.
Janet is stuck in something NASTY! No pun intended.

Are Janet stans seriously going to try to blame Randy for this as if she's incapable of self-agency?

One would assume at least some of those outlets would have had someone to contact on verifying a quote - did he drop the ball on that too?

Why is she incapable of firing him?

The she shouldn't insert herself into it in the first place. She should have just said "no comment".
