Now why am I seeing a Madonna stan calling her a weirdo over this? Janet definitely deserves lashings for living in such a rich ignorant bubble but at least Janet isn't throwing slurs at her kid on IG :rip:

First of all, Madonna has nothing to do with this so stop bringing her up

second it's very phuckin weird dat we jus celebrated da 35th anniversary of Rhythm Nation and its social impact and Janet is spewing all this ignorance

Her family is a cult and I swear something happened or changed after MJ died and she went Muslim and became a trad wife for a hot minute. Clearly the Moist singer forgot who she was because it's giving the same energy as MIA becoming a born again Christian and selling anti 5G clothing. Such a radical departure from who they were, there has to be something else going on there.

I mean, you nailed it right here.
Since a certain time Janet has clearly regressed and publicly given a very ambivalent & lackluster impression. And this leans into a lot of the entire Jackson family's M.O.

Idk what this says - is she a person who flip-flops based on what works for her or is she easily manipulated and the worst people around her use that?
Knowing what she's shared with us through her work and having followed her public life, both seem plausible.

Either way, she's not a damn new girl on the block with no media training - she knew damn well what she was doing. This is as disappointing as it is telling.

Serious question, what exactly is Kamala's portion of Black ancestry?

Nnnn those situations aren't comparable at all and I think you know that :rip: also totally irrelevant.

OT: WEIRDO!

What a random thing to say in an interview. Her fans must be feeling so disillusioned

Something has been off about her since she got with that Qatari billionaire.

Weird. I thought Janet was a smart woman

Sadly I think this sort of thing happens to most if not all of us as we get older

But then again she's one year younger than Harris :suburban:

Oh man, this is really really disappointing

Disappointing, and she should know better than this.

She needs to get the hell away from her brother.

You really would think that someone of her wealth and position would be a bit more informed and mindful of where they get their news from and what they say in public, especially when it comes to a subject such as race.

This is disappointing, but just goes to show that all these artists are only human and most of them don't really know the first thing about politics outside of what their managers tell them to say to improve their image.

'???? :bibliahh:

Her quote reminds me of that user on OldTRL who said 'there's a rumor going around in the Rihanna base that Blue Ivy is a lesbian, not sure if true, how ****** up though'

Janet has released an apology (if you can call it that) through buzzfeed (why buzzfeed and not an actual statement via her social media?) via her manager acknowledging the comments were based on misinformation. The rest is...whatever I guess.

Amid the backlash, Janet responded through her manager, Mo Elmasri, who tells BuzzFeed that the comments were "based on misinformation."

"She deeply respects Vice President Kamala Harris and her accomplishments as a Black and Indian woman," the statement continued. "Janet apologizes for any confusion caused and acknowledges the importance of accurate representation in public discourse."

Her brother, Randy, is a Trump supporter and is in control of her business decisions...it's very sad and disappointing to see his political views is now slowly influencing Janet's perception of the current US election. But she has no one to blame but herself if this triggers a big backlash against her given all her past social activism and stances against racial hate and bigotry.

Ugh, I had no idea Randy was a Trumper... Just awful!! 😡

I just wanna know why folks are doing the most over Madam Veep's mixed race when Obama didn't even get half of this for being bi-racial. Hell, he was half-white, unlike Kamala who is black/brown. That's not to say he didn't deal with racism when running, because he did, but it wasn't about him being mixed with black. It was all over his last name.

I mean, I know the answer why she's getting it more but it is highly disappointing. Like, out of everything going on in the nation and everything that the other side is threatening, THIS is what people are focused on? 'Murica might be cooked.

The fact that a celebrity who has money and access to resources doesn't understand race is just… so depressing.
