13k is more than I expected at this point. Artists of Gwen's generation rely solely on their fanbase buying multiple copies and Gwen's fanbase, which is not huge anyway, was simply not interested in this project.

I'm not sure why though. I feel like this is unfairly dismissed as a country album. Outside of 2-3 songs, the rest sound like pop songs with country tinges and instrumentation, just like Chappel, Sabrina and many others are doing. It's not fresh like LAMB but neither was TTWTFL, so... I don't get the disdain. Maybe she shouldn't have worn a hat

The album is properly dismissed as a country album, and nobody wants country tinges and instrumentation from Gwen Stefani. A woman who captivated audiences by being an Avant Garde opposition to the norm of a pop star. She truly could've had a big comeback moment, and I'm sad she's wasting it on Bouqet. Nobody wants Gwen to be Chappel, Sabrina, or "so many others"...she is supposed to be Gwen Stefani

I've yet to see any new pop artist be as creative as Gwen in her prime career years. Truth...(while not an LAMB) was still miles ahead of what other girls produce in creativity and was definitely, unmistakably Gwen Stefani with a natural step into a more mature sound and that's why it's a fan favorite. Im not sure why she didn't build off that album for this one. It was also a #1 album.:michael:

Gwen's career should've taken the trajectory of Pinks, but so much mismanagement, misfires, uncertainty and tbh lack of attention to her fanbase and their voices has caused it to go another way. And tbh, so many fans were turned off by her Blake Shelton obsession, so for her to turn around and do this entire era is just strange.

I hope it's not, but I think this will be her last solo album. A #95-Out debut wont satisfy anyone.

This album isn't bad, but it lacks a little spark. The first single had me excited, but I've yet to connect with the full project.

But I did just take a listen to I'm So Sick and Rearview, and I'm ... officially annoyed with her and/or her label. How did those songs get scrapped? That's the kind of pop music I want her to be making--fun, mature, well produced.

Hard disagree. How was that album "miles ahead"? It was as bland and underwhelming as most pop albums that came out during that period

I'm not exactly sure what the background is here (I've seen some members here say there are "poppier" versions of all the songs but she countrified them with her executive producer?), but the songs are not country.

Yea, this is basically the story of this album. She's been writing pop songs since 2019 and in 2023 (after she recorded Purple Irises) she took some of these songs to Nashville to rework them with country producer Scott Hendricks.

Let's be honest: She wouldn't have picked this producer, if she didn't want the album to be somehow country-ish.

When I first heard her announcing it as a "70s yacht rock" album, I thought it was gonna sound like Miley's "Endless Summer Vacation".

I agree that the standard version of that album was kinda basic, but the bonus tracks on TIWTTFL are pure gold. "Splash", "Getting Warmer", "Loveable", "Rocket Ship" - they all have an almost experimental vibe and are very "Return of Saturn" coded, but with a modern twist.

I love that album so much.

The truth is that no one but Gwen and Blake was/is checking for some ghetto country album by Gwen Stefani
