I love how stans will use the "my fave is UNBOTHERED with her OODLES of cash and UNPARALLELED SUCCESS, you peasants cannot dream of having that" card, until they need to drag someone they dislike and suddenly they're so anticapitalist they'd put Karl Marx to shame

refreshing to see a pop star speaking her mind, she's so real for this

100% of pop stars feel this way but never say it for the fear of being labeled as ungrateful, they are under the pressure to appear like a boss girl, perfect, humble, energetic, blindly devoted to the audience

lol at everyone criticizing her… when was the last time you had a hit song? A hit tweet, even? Extreme loser behavior. She's could drop off the face of the planet today, never work another day in her life, and still have had more success than every single person in this thread.

But she still seems to be 100x more miserable than average ATRLer which says a lot to be honest

It does sound like she's taking the "anti-popstar" shtick to a whole 'nother level :toofunny2:

or maybe she actually just wants to be a one hit wonder, have her little 15 minutes of fame and retreat into indie/alternative territory like a lot of alt-women of the 20th century?

Also, I don't agree with people outright saying she's just being lazy. I think it's good to have some sort of work ethic but it is not good to be overworked. Think of how many of the older artists (especially the females) that never learned how to say NO or weren't even afforded the option of saying NO to anything in their youth and paid handsomely for it. Some are still paying for it. If you feel tired or overwhelmed, it should be perfectly fine to take a break or pull back.

I don't know, in this age of exposure of every seedy nook and cranny of how the industry works, I think it's actually refreshing to hear someone not constantly touting fame/being in the music industry as something shiny for everyone to aspire to. Yes, she sounds miserable but that's probably because she is at times... or is at the very least shell-shocked and desperately trying to hold onto some semblance of normalcy. I don't think enough people realize how strange a circumstance being famous is, even for something that you are good at or wanting to be known for. This is only going to worsen because it is not so regulated anymore in this age of social media and people wanting to be in front of a camera 24/7.

I agree with this 100%.
But miss Chappell is mostly complaining and name dropping celebrities that reached out to her, she is not taking any action towards feeling better. That's why it's so weird to witness her meltdowns, what are we supposed to do with her problem like :doc:

Fame is not for everyone. She's drawing more attention to herself right now though…

I reckon that even the superstars that appear built for it probably have a wealth of negative side effects and inner issues that were exacerbated by it. They just learn how to dissociate or hide behind a fake smile.

In that instance, it's for no one really.

Is she trying to come across as unlikeable…. Cause girl, ermmm. It's working if that's what she's aiming for.

We are in desperate need of mysterious artists that don't play the media game and never ever give interviews or have little to none social media presence. I thought Chappell would fit the archetype but she's quite the opposite of that.

This is such an easy problem to solve. Don't release another single, don't promote, don't do another performance. I guess we will see if Miss Chapell means what she says :eli:

She is so full of **** lol

Stop attending award shows and gracing the cover of mainstream magazines if you "supposedly" hate the fame so much

She's just as big of an attention ***** as the Kardashians

I hope when she takes the break she mentioned to do some writing she goes completely off the grid and becomes a hermit. And finds a new psychologist. Clearly all this fame and constant touring is wearing on her.

Wouldn't be surprised if we get an interview next year where she talks about "Being in a bad mental state" and how she actually really did want fame.

Also, what is her PR team doing? They should be protecting her from doing interviews like this. Assuming she even has one..

It's never a guarantee that came will last. She should just enjoy the moment and be grateful people find her that interesting to shower her with great acclaim and attention, because tomorrow it can all be gone...

That's why Adele, Beyoncé and Bruno are queens and kings. No bullshit, just music :heart2:

She's just following the archetype of the celebs who were SO different than the Britneys and the Hilary Duffs etc. etc. Like it's nothing new.

But when she says these things it does make me think of struggling authors, especially non-white authors who really do deserve the shine's she's getting and don't because they don't have the white privilege Chappell does.

so basically shes the new pink? i can see it :thing:

Her music career is just getting started and she doesn't yet understand how to prioritize what will set her up for longevity vs doing too many things that tire her out quickly.  Objectively, and iconic MV for GLB would be a cultural moment of 2024 and for her entire career.  She performed at way too many festivals and shows this year, and that's her fault bc no one is going to care about that in one or two years.

Sorry, I used to be a fan but after what I've read and seen recently from her I'll gladly say I'm not longer one. I don't even wanna hear a song by her again. What a turn off woman. Too bad

Was she only wanting to be an underground artist? Seems like these last few months really exhausted her. I feel like she should take a long break and try again next year if she truly wants this fame lifestyle.

I thought for a second this was the same interview with the Grammy thing and the abus1.ve ex-husband conversation... but they're all done for different magazines? Smells way too much like PR to me. Her going into a press tour telling everyone how much she hates fame :coffee2:

because then no one will ever expect anything from me again

If not a PR stunt, she's right for wanting her own privacy BUT she also seems way too invested in everyone's opinion, and that has nothing to do with fame. I know she's seen some specialists, but they need to step up since she doesn't seem to be in a healthy mental state

Let's look at her videography
