Sooo she hasn't received a platinum plaque for anything as of recently? Got it.

Beyonce 'flopping' is more successful than Katy's career. Please stop throwing stones in a glass house sweetie. You need to be concerned about how to get '143' to break the top 20.

I'm not a Katycat get the **** over yourself lol

YOU need to be concerned about why Bey is flopping so badly that only Katy Perry is the one you can beat down on.

Okay this is Dolly's diplomatic way of saying of course the CMAs will nominate and award lifelong or "real" country artists instead of a cosplaying interloper who already has more Grammys than everyone :rip:

Honestly I have to agree with you, I don't think she's being shady at all. Beyonce is not a country artist even if she has done a country album. Sometimes as amazing and godlike as Beyonce is, it's good to remember that the laws of physics and award shows sometimes do apply.

Some members of the Hive should accept that she doesn't need CMAs for her legacy and it's really not a big deal, though I do agree on a macro level the country music scene is racist as hell (Dolly excluded of course). Gatekeeping goes on in all sorts of places, including places where Beyonce benefits from it like the Grammy's so better to take this with grace when it's really nothing to be embarrassed about.

Every person in here calling Beyoncé country cosplay but mute about all the white artists this year dipping their toes in country should get reprimanded for racism idc. I'm so sick of yall disguising your very clear anti black attitudes behind stan wars and terrible drags.

It was not cosplay she is a country girl at heart. But Beyoncé didn't do the work. She dropped the album and vanished. She can't try to break into a new market and think her name was big enough on its own to gain all the accolades and applause.  It came off very pretentious and pompous.

They already feel Beyoncé sits on a high horse and is a rich spoiled woman. There are some questionable racist undertones but it's also anti elitism too.

There's a reason they don't mind shaboozey being number one for 10 weeks and highly nominated.

It's to say "we're not racist we just don't like her"

Why is it just a "specialty album?"

Lets be real. If Dolly called up B and did a Rap album would she be up for an BET? :monkey:

Yet Post Malone, a white pop/hip hop artist who has never made a country album, gets nominated. Sorry girl, this narrative just doesn't fly.

It's still for his song on his album.

POST MALONE – FOUR NOMINATIONS

Single of the Year ("I Had Some Help"), Song of the Year ("I Had Some Help"), Musical Event of the Year ("I Had Some Help"), Music Video of the Year ("I Had Some Help")

First-time nominee Post Malone receives four nominations for his chart-topping collaboration "I Had Some Help" featuring Morgan Wallen. New to Country Music, Post Malone collects nominations in the Single, Song, Musical Event and Music Video categories.

soo  all that she needed was a collab with the #1 country artist of the moment, have a big hit that still on top #30 Gobal and top #10 US (spotify daily) and then get nominations...:coffee2:

He only got nominations for I Got Some Help, not so coincidentally a song with Morgan Wallen, a massive country star, and one that went #1 on country radio. And the album had half of Nashville on it. He actually put in the effort to absorb himself into the country scene and establishment. Different situations.

And why do people give her a pass for this but they get in outrage when Taylor did the same?

Because Dolly doesn't reach the volume of people as that other girl. With her popularity there's actually a lot at stake and she can influence, especially young voters.

It's to say "we're not racist we just don't like her"

You're coming across quite dense. Didn't do the work? What other work is there to be done? She did the research, and meticulously crafted an album personal to her story/journey/family and the legacy of Black artistry in the genre. Most artists don't even bother with a thematic music video, let alone an album. Unless you're acknowledging award shows aren't based on quality but kissing ass. Should Beyoncé have sent some horse shaped cakes to some country radio stations to convince them to play her song? Did she need to go stand on the red carpet and be asked questions about her hobbies to get a nomination for the biggest country single of the year?

She already showed up and gave the best live performance in their show's history with country legends like The Chicks, stop pretending like this came out of the blue.

The dedication, sweat, rehearsal time is the opposite of sitting on a high horse. Perhaps you need to open your eyes and ears and stop projecting your opinion on Beyoncé being entitled when she hasn't said a peep about the award show. She will continue to be humble! and focus on putting out acclaimed music no genre will box her in

They also shut out Kylie completely with Golden.

it's funny to see people that have never cared about country music or the CMAs fuming over this

This is probably the funniest part, because Country listeners have been lashing out at the CMAs/ACM for years. They lean very country radio for their noms, but even then, Kane Brown has only 4 CMA noms and they were all because of a deut (in similar fashion to Post Malones noms) but Kane is actually very successful and established on Country radio, so there's still an issue with that.

But this is all for the moment backlash because of exactly what you said, everyone is gonna move on from discussing the Country industry soon enough and it'll be business as usual. :rip: I wish Hip Hop artists had the same control over Rap with this gatekeeping.

Dolly is usually open minded so this confuses me

Who said she's not open minded? She clearly supports Bey making any kind of music she wants but thinks the CMAs are obviously going to focus on the artists that are more firmly entrenched in the genre. Like others have said Golden, Joanne, and other country crossover albums weren't nominated.

The BET awards were made specifically to celebrate black entertainers the CMAs shutting out black artists is exactly why they were created, I hope they show more love to country artists and have country categories after this, this should've been done a long time ago though.

Thanks for the perspective!

Does anyone actually care, because I don't. Like did she write the lyrics of the music, a primary staple of all respected country albums? No. So, clearly they were not gonna award her for that.

Plus it is a novelty album, everyone knows Yonce ain't crossing over to country.

Her entire brand and life's work lies with the CMA ofc she won't diss them. There's a reason she also doesn't talk politics, I highly doubt she's pro-Trump but it's very probably the overwhelming majority of her fanbase is or was at one point, so from a business POV it makes sense to never get into these discussions. Beyoncé herself seems to care more about her business ventures than the actual music so I'm sure she'll read between the lines and respect that. Also she already got Dolly's stamp of approval in very obvious ways, and she praises her once again here, so I don't really see this as shocking or wrong.

Cowboy Carter still did what she set out to do with it and that's open the dialogue up and cause positive impact for new/lesser known black artists in the genre (hello Shaboozey who is currently enjoying his 10th week at #1!).
